Schedule: Full-Time | Shift work and On-Call. Holidays & Weekends as required; Overtime as needed. Travel 60% or more.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT

As a Tissue Recovery Surgical Technician, you’ll play a vital role in advancing our mission. In this position, you’ll be responsible for preparation, maintenance and restoration of the surgical environment through completion of the recovery case. Responsible for anticipating the needs of the team to maintain progression of the surgical processes. The Surgical Technician functions as the non-sterile team member managing supplies, fields, pace, timelines, ensuring a complete and accurate recovery record is concurrently created and finalized by the end of the case. This role may also be trained to perform the back table processes during the recovery, to include performing the aseptic packaging and maintenance of recovered tissues and samples.

Your work will have purpose every single day, contributing directly to life-changing outcomes.

Important: This role requires the ability to sit, stand, bend, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs. for the duration of the shift; as well as wear personal protective equipment to include surgical gowns, masks, visors or goggles, and caps.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Preoperative Duties: Gathers, inspects, and prepares recovery supplies and instrumentation necessary for the case. Responsible for concurrent documentation in the donor record as pre-recovery processes are performed. Assists Case Lead with performing the donor physical assessment for recovery eligibility determination. Participates in the “time out” verification processes. Assists with pre-recovery environment, sterile field, and donor preparation processes, to include but not limited to moving and positioning the donor body, opening sterile fields, solutions, supplies, and instrumentation, and the completion of the sterile surgical prep processes. Assists the surgical team with aseptic gowning and gloving.
  • Intraoperative Duties: Prepares and anticipates additional instrumentation, equipment and supplies for usage during the recovery procedure. Aseptically receives and verifies labeling of packaged recovered tissues, organs, and other samples from the surgical team. Breaks down and sets up additional sterile fields and supplies as the recovery advances. Assists surgical team with the repositioning and surgical preparation of the donor between tissue recovery zones. Concurrently documents in the donor record all activities and results of the intraoperative processes.
  • Postoperative Duties: Breaks down sterile fields and appropriately discards unused and contaminated supplies. Performs instrument and equipment cleaning and decontamination post-recovery. Leads team in the labeling review and verification of all recovered tissues, organs, and samples. Performs post-recovery cleaning and restoration of the recovery environment. Assists team with all other post-recovery activities, including but not limited to donor reconstruction and transport, restocking supplies, and preparing shipments of recovered tissues, samples, instrumentation and equipment. Concurrently documents results of all postoperative processes in the donor record.
  • Quality & Continuous Improvement: Ensures quality outcomes of all work performed. Ensures accurate and timely completion and release of the donor record within established timeframes. Assists with the monitoring, development, and reporting of personal and departmental KPIs and metrics. Assists with completion of the Zone Assessment Guide and other audit readiness activities.  Participates in departmental and organizational LEAN projects and initiatives. Participates in departmental training sessions and meetings. Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid State Driver’s License and meets LifeNet Health’s minimum driving requirements for company related driving
  • 1 year of work experience
  • Must be able to meet all credentialling requirements of area hospitals and other recovery facilities.

Preferred Experience/Skills/Certifications:

  • Enhanced Identification - Valid State Enhanced (or “Real ID”) Driver's License and/or a current passport.
  • Certified LEAN White Belt: Certification offered by LifeNet Health or an external accredited entity.
  • 1 year of work experience as Operating Room Tech, Scrub/Surgical Tech, EMT or Paramedic, Mortician or Embalmer, Pathology Assistant

  • Compliance Skills: Ability to follow LifeNet Health and client procedures and industry regulations
  • Computer Skills: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Suite
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate and build relationships with all professionals at different levels within the organization.
  • Initiative: Ability to motivate self in completing assigned tasks and proactively seek out opportunities for self and organizational improvement

COMPENSATION

Salary Range: $18.51 to $24.68 / hourly

Final compensation will be based on factors such as geographic location, qualifications, and prior relevant experience.  The pay range for this position is $18.51 hourly (entry level qualifications) to $24.68 hourly (experienced in this role). Actual compensation may be higher based on the successful candidate’s knowledge and relevant experience.

This position is eligible for an annual bonus once eligibility criteria are met.
