Ithaka Hospitality Partners is seeking a Fitness Center Supervisor to join the team at Elevation Convening Center & Hotel. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the daily operations of our fitness center, inspire a culture of wellness, and ensure guests enjoy a safe, clean, and welcoming environment while receiving outstanding service.
Job Summary:
The Fitness Center Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Elevation Fitness, ensuring an exceptional experience for hotel guests and members through outstanding customer service, a safe and well-maintained facility, and effective leadership of the fitness team. This position is responsible for promoting wellness programs, maintaining equipment and facility standards, supervising staff, and supporting the financial and operational success of the Fitness Center.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervise, coach, train, and develop Fitness Center Attendants and other assigned team members.
  • Prepare and manage employee work schedules to ensure appropriate staffing coverage.
  • Conduct performance coaching and provide ongoing feedback to team members.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new employees.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Fitness Center to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all guests and members.
  • Create weekly or bi-weekly work schedules while maintaining appropriate staffing levels for mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and periods of high occupancy.
  • Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, productivity, and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all fitness equipment is properly maintained, routinely inspected, and reported for repair when necessary.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety and health standards.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns, complaints, and service recovery opportunities.
  • Promote Fitness Center memberships, wellness programs, personal training services, and special events to increase participation and revenue.
  • Assist with budget monitoring, inventory management, and purchasing of supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and operational documentation as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, emergency procedures, and applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with Engineering regarding preventative maintenance and equipment repairs.
  • Partner with Housekeeping to maintain cleanliness standards throughout the facility.
  • Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Monitor departmental goals and key performance indicators while identifying opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Perform CPR and provide basic first aid in emergency situations, if certified.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Recreation, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in a fitness center, wellness center, hospitality, recreation, or related environment preferred.
  • Experience with fitness equipment maintenance and facility operations preferred.
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification preferred or required within an established timeframe after hire.
  • Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) or other nationally recognized fitness certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and moving throughout the Fitness Center.
  • Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper use of fitness equipment and exercise techniques.
  • Must be able to respond quickly during emergencies.
  • Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and other shifts as business needs require.
