Description
Job Summary: Greenlight Networks' Outside Plant Engineer has overall accountability for driving network builds in new and existing markets for Greenlight Networks. This position has big picture accountability for ensuring the network design and construction is completed - meeting defined timelines, in budget and efficiently. Throughout the deployment of new fiber infrastructure this position balances engineering requirements, time-to-market, and costs to meet the company's goals.
Essential Functions:
  • Conduct field surveys and review field collected data from technicians and vendors.
  • Determine path and design for deployment of new fiber assets.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources for creation of drafted prints and splice packages.
  • Identify easement needs and work with field technicians to procure easements needed for design plans.
  • Create cost analysis' and Manage costs throughout the life of each project.
  • Identify and create permit and joint-use application requests.
  • Review and approve proposed make-ready design.
  • Manage change requests from construction coordinators, contractors, and permitting authorities.
  • Verify completed construction and review as-builts.
  • Travel is expected 50% of the time across all Greenlight Networks' markets.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Proven experience managing budgets, or ability to demonstrate strong financial acumen.
  • Prior experience installing / building telecommunications networks from tech / construction background ideal.
  • Knowledge of current fiber engineering and construction best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read, create, and interpret technical documents, fiber maps and as-built drawings, and legal documents related to easements and rights of way.
  • Ability to utilize GIS/CAD and fiber design tools such as Vetro, ArcGIS, OSP Insight, 3-GIS or Bentley Fiber.
  • Proficiency in cost analysis' and budget management.
  • Knowledge of project management tools such as Sitetracker or Helix ALM or like type PM tool.

Other Requirements
  • 3+ years of work experience managing telecommunications projects.
  • 3+ years of experience designing fiber optic networks, especially GPON FTTH deployments.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • A four-year degree in electrical, telecommunications or civil engineering a plus.

Compensation:
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this position is $88,000 - $117,000 The actual salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
