Job description

Cross Sound Ferry is seeking flexible, responsible, and motivated individuals to work at our Orient Point Ferry Terminal. We are currently hiring for outside yard attendants. We operate a busy terminal, where you will assist customers traveling aboard ferries to Connecticut by issuing tickets and directing customers to staging areas and to vessels for boarding. We look for candidates with excellent communication and customer service skills. Yard Attendant positions require standing and walking for most of the shift and the ability to endure adverse weather conditions (rain and summer sun/heat). All positions are seasonal with potential for year-round full-time employment. Applicants must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
Pay: $18.50/hr
Primary duties include, but not limited to:
  • Pleasantly deal with customers to ensure satisfaction
  • Check in, change reservations, and issue tickets using handheld computers and printers
  • Explain policies and procedures to customers
  • Help clean and maintain terminal, restrooms, and terminal property
  • Watch for and report suspicious behavior and security threats
  • Outside positions may require line handling to dock ferries
  • Outside positions require vehicle and pedestrian traffic control
