Job description

The Multimedia Journalist Digital Reporter produces, reports, shoots, writes, voices, edits and feeds news production content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers.

WJBF is the ABC affiliate and legacy station in Augusta, the second largest city in the state of Georgia. We are located on the Savannah River and the border with South Carolina. With a thriving downtown and affordable cost of living, it's a great place to begin or continue your journalism career.

Requirements & Skills:


    Have traditional reporting experience with a gift for storytelling, who is ready for the challenge of reaching viewers in real-time through various platforms of social media and our fast-growing streaming platform WJBF6+.
    Have a creative mind when it comes to content creation with your phone. Most shooting and even some editing will be done on your phone, though use of traditional camera/recording equipment will be required for some assignments.
    The ability to cover hard breaking news and fun feature stories equally well.
    Work well on deadlines and be willing to take advantage of mentoring from our experienced team of journalists.
    Be a utility player in the newsroom and move between reporting, producing, editing, shooting and even anchoring without missing a beat.
    Love being a part of the community and developing strong relationships with our neighbors.

    Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

    • Fluency in English
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
    • Minimum two years' experience in news reporting (Depending on market size)
    • Superior on-air presence
    • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
    • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
    • Flexibility to work any shift including nights, weekends and holidays when required.
