Weekend Farming information

What is weekend farming?

A Weekend Farming job involves agricultural work that is primarily done on weekends, making it ideal for individuals who have weekday commitments. Duties may include planting, watering, harvesting, feeding livestock, or maintaining farm equipment. These roles can be part-time or seasonal, depending on the farm's needs. They are great for those looking to gain farming experience, earn extra income, or enjoy outdoor work.

What are the typical schedules and responsibilities for weekend farming?

Weekend Farming positions usually involve working Saturdays and Sundays, with shifts that may start early in the morning and last several hours, depending on the season and type of farm. Common responsibilities include assisting with planting, weeding, harvesting crops, tending to livestock, cleaning equipment, and helping to set up farmers markets or farm stands. You may work independently or as part of a small team, and collaboration with full-time farm staff is common to ensure consistency and quality in farm operations. This role is ideal for those who want hands-on experience in agriculture while balancing other weekday commitments. Seasonal and weather-related variations can affect the workload, so adaptability and a positive attitude are key.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in weekend farming, and why are they important?

To thrive in Weekend Farming, you need a hands-on understanding of basic agricultural practices such as planting, harvesting, and animal care, along with physical stamina and attention to detail. Familiarity with farm tools, machinery, and safety protocols is beneficial, and some positions may require certifications like pesticide applicator licenses. Strong organizational skills, teamwork, and a willingness to learn make candidates stand out in this role. These skills are important because weekend farmers must efficiently contribute to vital farm tasks, often within tight timeframes and alongside other workers or supervisors.

Do weekend farming workers work on weekends?

Weekend farming workers typically work on weekends, as their schedule is often aligned with the days when farming activities are most active. These roles may require early mornings and physical labor outdoors, and work schedules can vary depending on the farm's needs and seasonal demands.

ABOUT OUR AGENCY:I've been a State Farm agent since September 2019, but I bring more than 20 years of insurance experience to the table, including work as a claims adjuster and in agency leadership. That background allows me to coach and mentor my team with practical knowledge and a genuine desire to help them grow.
I'm a proud graduate of Purdue University-Indianapolis, where I earned my B.S. in Psychology, and Indiana Wesleyan University, where I completed my MBA. As a family-owned agency with two children of my own, staying connected to the community is a big part of who I am. I serve as a Board Member for Project Will, supporting young adults with behavioral health challenges, and I'm an Indy Chamber Ambassador, helping welcome new businesses and strengthen local connections across Indianapolis.
Our office culture is friendly, laid-back, and growing, with a true work hard/play hard mentality. What sets us apart is our focus on growing personally, professionally, and physically, while still maintaining strong work/life balance. We believe in giving 100 percent when we're at work and 100 percent to our lives outside of it. Service is also a core value for us. We volunteer quarterly as a team, most recently partnering with the You Feed Them Mission to support 70 local families.
We currently have four team members and offer meaningful benefits including a 4-day work week opportunity, a health care subsidy, PTO and paid holidays, a 401k, disability and life insurance, no weekend hours, and company-paid training. We're looking for someone who is a true self-starter-someone who believes they can make a difference, is rooted in their community, and has a history of success. If you're motivated, caring, and ready to grow with a supportive and encouraging team, you'll feel right at home here.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:As Account Associate - State Farm Agent Team Member for Kellie Taylor - State Farm Agent, you are vital to our daily business operations and customers' success.
