Job description

HiFyve is hiring an Electro-Mechanical Technician in the plastics manufacturing industry in Fontana, CA!

Salary: $34/hr – $42/hr (based on experience)

Shift: Full-Time – Primarily 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday)

Location: On-site – Fontana, CA

Position Overview

We are hiring an Electro-Mechanical Technician to support the Injection Molding Department at a leading plastics manufacturing facility in Fontana, CA.

This is a hands-on, hybrid role combining maintenance, changeovers, process optimization, and technical support — not a traditional single-function maintenance position.

Unlike conventional manufacturing environments with separate roles for operators, maintenance, and changeovers, our technicians are cross-functional and handle multiple aspects of production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on injection molding equipment (approx. 600-ton Husky machines).
  • Handle changeovers, setups, and process adjustments to support production uptime.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, including sensors, VFDs, and other components.
  • Provide technical support for process improvement and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with production teams to maintain quality and efficiency standards.
  • Support blow molding operations when necessary and cross-train across platforms.
  • Assist during off-shift hours for training, breakdowns, or emergencies.
  • Participate in on-call/weekend support rotation as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic to intermediate electrical knowledge — understanding of components, circuits, and controls.
  • Programming not required.
  • No robotics experience necessary.
  • Background in injection molding preferred (brand experience flexible).
  • Experience with Husky or similar 600-ton injection molding equipment highly transferable.
  • Candidates from other industries welcome; plastics experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read technical documentation and perform hands-on diagnostics.
  • Team-oriented, reliable, and comfortable in a hybrid maintenance role.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Pay: $34 – $42/hour (based on experience)
  • Shift: Primarily 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday)
  • Must be flexible for occasional off-shift work, weekends, or holidays based on plant needs.
