The Position:
As a Registered Nurse - Operating Room / Circulator at Panorama Eyecare, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to deliver the best eyecare. The Role
The Registered Nurse - Operating Room / Circulator works collaboratively with the entire perioperative professional team to meet the patients needs, and is accountable for the outcomes resulting from the nursing care provided during the operative or procedure phase of the patients stay.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Consistently demonstrates a high level of customer service in a compassionate, caring manner.
  • Ensures that proper techniques and practices are used in according to accepted standards of practice.
  • Immediately reports any unusual occurrences to OR Manager or Director, documents the occurrence in a timely fashion per policy.
  • Assists in gathering proper supplies and equipment for surgical procedures. Maintaining a neat and orderly environment.
  • Performs circulating duties with efficiency for all specialties of the ASC.
  • Positions patient for safety and comfort, adjusts table as needed and prepares operative site.
  • Monitors for breaks in aseptic technique.
  • Assists with postoperative medications and dressings. Maintains accurate documentation of nursing interventions.
  • Assists anesthesia provider with intubation and extubation of the patient.
  • Identifies potential or actual risks to patients/others and takes action to eliminate or minimize risks and maximize safety.
  • Assists in stocking and ordering of medications in the OR and by anesthesia.
  • Handles specimens according to policy and procedure.
  • Updates physician preference cards as needed.
  • Facilitates efficient flow of patients and surgeries.
  • Communicates changes to appropriate personnel.
  • Actively pursues continuing education.
  • Provides education and support to patients.
  • Operates and troubleshoots problems of equipment and machines. Notifies appropriate personnel of equipment/instruments in need of replacement or repair.
  • Takes an active role on committees within the department.
  • Operates and troubleshoots problems of equipment and machines.
  • Assists in the training and orientation of new employees.
  • Must have flexibility in the job duties and work schedule.
  • Participates in all mandatory staff meetings.

Requirements
Who You Are
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • Current Colorado RN nursing license in good standing.
  • BLS certification.
  • Must complete: ACLS and PALS certification within three months of hire.
  • 2 years OR experience. Prefer OR experience in ophthalmology and outpatient surgery.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and able to work compatibly with all physicians and staff of the Surgery Center.
  • Ability to possess strong organizational skills, be efficient, and understand the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness in an ambulatory surgery setting.
  • Knowledge and clinical skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities.
  • Actively pursues continuing education.
  • Ability to make quick assessments of patients and able to handle emergency situations effectively and quickly.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility in week to work various days and shifts.
  • Demonstrates Age Specific Competencies for Adult and Pediatric Patients.

  • Knowledge of specialized equipment used in operating room.
