Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno seeks a Business Librarian to serve as liaison to the College of Business, the Department of Criminal Justice, and the Judicial Studies program. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. The incumbent will provide library instruction, research consultation, and collection development services for students and faculty in areas such as accounting, business administration, criminal justice, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, information systems, marketing, and management. Located in the Libraries' Research and Instructional Services department, this tenure-track position will collaborate on initiatives related to outreach, research help services, scholarly communications support, assessment, and others.

This position is part of the University of Nevada, Reno Libraries' liaison librarian program that emphasizes engaging information literacy instruction, research support for both novice and advanced researchers, and active engagement in outreach activities to promote the Libraries and build campus partnerships. The Libraries value excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong service orientation, a willingness to experiment with new methods and technologies, an openness to change, and a collaborative approach to meeting user needs. This is a tenure-track faculty position, with 70% of the expectations related to librarianship, 15% to scholarly activity and publication, and 15% to service activities (for more information see the ). The incumbent is expected to:

- Provide in-depth research consultations regarding specialized business resources, such as those involving investment and financial data, company and industry information, market research, economic indicators, and patent and trademark research.

- Design and conduct curriculum-integrated instructional sessions in the liaison areas both in person and online, in consultation with faculty regarding their teaching objectives.

- Create and maintain library guides, and create effective online instructional materials such as LMS modules, online tutorials, and other learning objects.

- Maintain familiarity with recent trends in research and teaching related to the liaison areas, such as those concerning journal publication, AI literacy, and evidence synthesis.

- Oversee library collections in the liaison areas, respond to faculty and student requests for library materials, and collaborate with other library departments on collections-related issues.

- Participate in and extend the Research and Instructional Services Department's outreach, promotion, assessment, and instructional initiatives, including research help services.

- Work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse communities and cultures.

- Conduct academic research, publish work in peer-reviewed journals and other outlets in the library and information science field, and present work at professional conferences.

- Serve on professional and university committees and participate in other professional service activities.

- Engage in continuous learning to update knowledge and skills related to business librarianship.

Required Qualifications

- ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent

- Two (2) years of experience in a library or instruction setting or an advanced degree in one of the liaison areas

Preferred Qualifications

- Background in and/or familiarity with sources, issues, and trends in business research

- Experience collaborating with faculty in a liaison librarian capacity

- Experience planning and delivering library services and/or information literacy instruction

- Experience with technologies that support research skills and/or online learning (e.g., Canvas, Springshare, Zotero)

Schedule

The Business Librarian is an in-person position housed on the University's main campus with occasional business travel, nights and weekends required.

Salary

The minimum salary for appointment at Assistant Professor is $75,600.

The minimum salary for Associate Professor is $84,360.

Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, depending on experience, record of scholarship, service and achievement.

Grants-in-Aid for Faculty Employees
