YMCA Camp Classen in Davis, Oklahoma is looking for equestrian staff. Positions are seasonal and open for weekday, weekends, and summer staff. Applicants should be proficient in haltering, grooming, saddling, and bridling horses. Applicants will primarily be taking guests on short trail rides. We're looking for enthusiastic, dependable wranglers who are passionate about horsemanship, guest service, and creating safe, memorable experiences for campers and guests. Whether you're looking for seasonal work, weekend employment, or an opportunity to grow your skills in the equine industry, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • As a Wrangler, you'll play an important role in caring for our herd while providing exceptional experiences for guests of all ages.
  • Lead guided trail rides through the scenic Arbuckle Mountains.
  • Teach basic horsemanship, riding skills, and horse safety.
  • Groom, saddle, bridle, and care for horses.
  • Feed, water, monitor health, and assist with administering medications when needed.
  • Perform daily barn chores including cleaning stalls, paddocks, tack, and facilities.
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming equestrian center.
  • Ensure YMCA, ACA, and CHA safety standards are followed.
  • Assist with arena lessons, special events, and family programming.
  • Serve as a positive role model for campers and guests.
  • Work as part of a team while maintaining a positive, servant-leader attitude.

Requirements

 We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Has previous horse handling experience.
  • Is comfortable riding and leading horses safely.
  • Enjoys working with children and families.
  • Can lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Is dependable, hardworking, and self-motivated.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Has excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Is willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Is committed to providing a safe and fun experience for every guest.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification (training available)
  • CHA Certification preferred but not required
  • Previous camp, ranch, trail riding, lesson, or guest ranch experience is a plus
