Location: Southampton County Public Schools
Salary: $50,000.00 - $72,595.00 Based on Experience and Education
Reports To: Principal
Job Summary: The English Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in English language arts, including reading, writing, literature, and language skills. This role involves creating engaging and challenging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and fostering a positive learning environment. The English Teacher will also support students' development of critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Instructional Planning and Delivery:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum in English language arts that aligns with state and national standards.
    • Provide instruction in various areas of English, including literature, composition, grammar, and language usage.
    • Utilize diverse teaching methods, including lectures, discussions, group work, and multimedia resources to engage students and facilitate learning.
  2. Student Engagement and Assessment:
    • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and interest in English language arts.
    • Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, projects, and other assessments.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth and development.
  3. Curriculum Development and Professional Development:
    • Develop and update instructional materials, lesson plans, and resources to enhance the English curriculum.
    • Stay current with advancements in English language arts education and best practices through professional development.
    • Incorporate new trends and innovative teaching strategies into the classroom.
  4. Classroom Management:
    • Maintain an orderly and respectful classroom environment that supports effective teaching and learning.
    • Implement and enforce classroom rules and procedures to ensure a productive and safe learning environment.

  5. Literacy and Skill Development:

    • Provide additional support and resources for students who need assistance with reading and writing skills.
  6. Parent and Community Engagement:

Qualifications:

Physical Requirements:
