Job description

Be the force behind smarter production

Join a plant-based team in Tonawanda where eliminating waste and elevating performance is the everyday mission. You’ll be embedded with Production leadership to build, standardize, and continuously improve the systems that keep our lines safe, high-quality, and efficient. Onsite, full-time presence is required. Relocation assistance may be available.

Impact you will make
  • Stand up and sustain industrial engineering business practices and processes.
  • Design operations that meet stringent safety, quality, and efficiency targets—with integrity first.
  • Own time studies: apply motion analysis and standard time data to keep them accurate.
  • Maintain routings ensuring parts reach their assembly stations seamlessly.
  • Develop and refine workstation layouts using CAD (AutoCAD/SolidWorks/Line Designer).
  • Lead continuous improvement to remove waste and increase value-added work.
  • Analyze bottlenecks; drive throughput and productivity gains in assigned areas.
  • Support change management with line balance plans; validate with production trials.
  • Reduce total cost via better operator loading and value-added percentage.
  • Implement GM’s Global Manufacturing System and train teams on standardized work.
  • Coach, teach, and problem-solve with cross-functional partners.
  • Build strong relationships throughout the Production organization.
Required qualifications
  • BS in Engineering (or equivalent) and 2+ years of Industrial Engineering experience.
  • Manufacturing background with continuous improvement experience.
  • Documented experience creating and maintaining Standardized Work.
  • Lean Manufacturing implementation experience.
  • Time study and motion analysis expertise.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Line Designer.
  • Adaptive communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, CI-driven professional.
  • Ability to work any shift, overtime, and weekends.
Preferred qualifications
  • Human factors engineering/ergonomics knowledge.
  • Project management and time management experience.
  • Experience in a union/bargaining unit environment.
Pay and benefits
  • Base salary range: $80,700.00 – $109,400.00 (final compensation depends on job-related factors).
