We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector. The Electrical Inspector will support electrical installation and maintenance activities across County facilities. This role is responsible for performing field inspections in areas with energized electrical equipment to ensure contractor work complies with applicable codes, project requirements, and established safety standards.
The Electrical Inspector will collaborate closely with contractors, facility personnel, and project teams to confirm quality workmanship, maintain regulatory compliance, and assist with documentation and quality assurance activities throughout the installation and maintenance phases of each project.
Responsibilities:

  • Perform field inspection of electrical construction activities to verify compliance with project specifications, electrical codes, safety standards, and approved construction drawings.
  • Inspect installation of power distribution infrastructure, including transformers, switchgear, electrical duct banks, underground conduit systems, and grounding systems.
  • Inspect installation and maintenance of transformers, electrical panels, and underground conduit systems to ensure compliance with NEC standards and safety regulations.
  • Review contractor work to ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local electrical codes, and project specifications.
  • Utilize construction management platforms (Procore) to manage inspection reports, field documentation and project communications.
  • Monitor installation of underground electrical duct banks and conduit systems, ensuring proper alignment, depth, encasement, and adherence to utility and project standards.
  • Collect photo documentation of construction activities and identify deficiencies, code violations and communicate corrective actions to contractors and project teams.
  • Verify that electrical installations meet required safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Monitor contractor performance and workmanship during electrical system installations and modifications.
  • Maintain detailed daily inspection reports documenting crew activity, equipment used, weather conditions, and work progress.
  • Attend pre-paving meetings and participate in progress and safety meetings.
  • Remain current with applicable local electrical codes and standards and incorporate into all inspection and compliance activities.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or a related degree is considered a plus.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in construction inspection, particularly in electrical systems.
The incumbent in this position can typically expect to sit and use his/her hands to handle and feel for more than 1/3 of the day. He/she can expect to stand or walk for more than 2/3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 2/3 of the day. The ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for less than 2/3 of the day. This position requires that the incumbent be able to lift items up to 70 pounds on an infrequent basis. The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. He/she should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors.
