Job description

The News Editor operates editing equipment to produce images or scenes for newscasts and other programming.

  • PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS:

    Quickly assist in producing breaking news vertical videos with material from news conferences, livestreams, weather events, daily stories, newscasts and CTV shows, and specials.
    Set up livestreams for the website, apps, YouTube and CTV platforms.
    Fill in as OBS/vMix operator for CTV livestreaming
    Keep up with a fast-moving news cycle with the ability to pivot as a story might change.
    Collaborate with reporters and photographers to assist in producing vertical videos centering on their news stories
    Create compelling YouTube thumbnails and headlines

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    Experience or knowledge in both pitching and assisting on video packages
    Keen eye for strong and dynamic visual design
    Solid news judgment
    Understanding and/or willingness to learn about audience engagement (ability to understand internal and competitive analytics to understand why certain videos command larger audiences)
    Skills / basic knowledge in all things Adobe Creative Suite, with some experience in Premiere, Photoshop, and Canva
    WordPress knowledge helpful
    Highly resourceful team player, also able to be extremely effective independently
    Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and able to build relationships
    Able to accurately handle multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
    Able to work nights and weekends
