Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Psychiatrist - Eating Disorders & Outpatient Psychiatry

Be Well Kentucky

Louisville, KY • On-site

$120 - $150/hr

Part-time

Re-posted 8 days ago

Job description

Louisville Center for Eating Disorders (LCED) and Be Well Kentucky are searching for a Licensed Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with an active and unrestricted DEA license to provide medication management in person for our PHP, IOP and outpatient levels of care. Our care is evidence-based, weight-inclusive, and grounded in HAES-informed and trauma-informed principles.
The ideal candidate for this part-time position would have excellent communication skills and a passion for treating patients with eating disorders, OCD, and anxiety-related disorders. Our clinics serve patients ages 13 through adulthood, and the ideal prescriber would be comfortable treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders across that age range, at the outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization levels of care.
The ideal schedule is two days per week, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8am-5pm: one day covering LCED PHP/IOP eating disorder programming, and one day covering Be Well Kentucky outpatient psychiatric care. For an exceptional candidate, we would consider one day per week focused on LCED programming, with the option to grow into a second day over time. The position comes with an established caseload transferred from the outgoing prescriber, including both LCED programming patients and BWK outpatients. Weekly treatment team attendance is required and paid.
About Us
Our clinics are Joint Commission Accredited and take pride in providing high-quality, evidence-based care. The Louisville Center for Eating Disorders (LCED) is a specialty eating disorder clinic that treats patients 13+ through adulthood with a primary eating disorder diagnosis at the PHP or IOP level of care. The prescriber meets with each patient who enters programming for a diagnostic evaluation, vitals and medication management (as relevant). The prescriber serves as medical liaison for the patient's primary care provider or pediatrician, who manages their medical care while the patient is in LCED PHP or IOP programming.
Be Well Kentucky provides outpatient mental health therapy specializing in eating disorders, OCD and anxiety-related disorders. Be Well Kentucky has offices in Louisville and Lexington and provides virtual services throughout the state and beyond depending on the provider's licensing.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing medical oversight for adolescents and adults in PHP and IOP eating disorder treatment.
  • Independently review and interpret admission and follow-up laboratory studies, EKGs, vital signs, weights, and other clinical data to assess medical stability and guide treatment decisions.
  • Monitor patients for psychiatric and eating disorder related medical concerns.
  • Collaborate with therapists, dietitians, and program staff as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team to develop and adjust individualized treatment plans.
  • Participate in weekly multidisciplinary treatment team meetings to review patient progress, identify barriers to recovery, and coordinate care.
  • Meet regularly with patients and their families to provide medication education, discuss treatment progress, and support recovery-oriented goals.
  • Deliver evidence-based, weight-inclusive psychiatric care grounded in HAES-informed and trauma-informed principles.
  • Assess and manage co-occurring psychiatric conditions, including mood, anxiety, OCD, and trauma-related disorders commonly seen in eating disorder populations.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation and ensure compliance with clinical, regulatory, and accreditation standards.

Requirements
Prescriber must have an active and unrestricted DEA license. Prescriber must follow all clinic policy and procedures as aligned with Joint Commission and BHSO standards. This is an in-person role at our Louisville, Kentucky office, although some appointments will be virtual.
Kentucky APRN license (PMHNP) or Kentucky medical license (Psychiatrist) required. For PMHNP candidates, an active CAPA-CS or Kentucky Board exemption for controlled substance prescribing is preferred. Existing insurance credentialing is a strong plus and can significantly expedite start date, especially with Kentucky Medicaid MCOs (Passport, WellCare, Anthem, Humana).
While specific training in the treatment of eating disorders or OCD is a plus, it is not a requirement. We offer training from clinical staff members, paid time during the first month for additional training, as well as monthly didactic training, weekly consultation teams, and access to a comprehensive digital library of treatment manuals, workbooks, handouts, and peer-reviewed journal articles.
Compensation
Compensation will be paid on direct patient hours and includes paid weekly treatment team attendance. Pay ranges from $120-$150 per hour commensurate with prior experience. This job could stay static, or grow into a job with more hours/days each week as caseload is built, if that growth is desired.
Job Type: Part-Time, W-2 or 1099 contractor (1099 through candidate's own professional entity)
Pay: $120-$150/hr based on experience
