What is weekend driving?

Weekend driving jobs are positions that involve transporting passengers or goods primarily during the weekends, often on a part-time or flexible basis. These roles include driving for ride-share services, delivery companies, or transporting goods for local businesses. Weekend driving jobs are ideal for people looking to earn extra income outside of their regular weekday commitments. Drivers typically need a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and sometimes their own vehicle, depending on the employer.

What skills and qualifications are needed for weekend driving?

To thrive as a Weekend Driver, you typically need a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and thorough knowledge of local traffic laws and routes. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, ride-sharing or delivery apps, and basic vehicle maintenance are commonly required. Strong customer service skills, punctuality, and the ability to remain calm under pressure help drivers stand out. These skills ensure safe, efficient, and reliable transportation or delivery services, which are critical for customer satisfaction and professional success.

What are the typical work schedules and expectations for weekend driving?

Weekend driving roles often require flexibility, as shifts may start early in the morning or extend late into the evening, depending on demand. Drivers may be expected to handle higher passenger or delivery volumes during peak hours, such as Friday and Saturday nights. Communication with dispatchers or customers is key, and drivers should be prepared for variable traffic conditions. Regular vehicle checks and adherence to safety protocols are also important parts of the job. Team interaction varies, but drivers typically coordinate closely with support staff to ensure smooth operations.

Job description

OTR Class A CDL Driver - LTL West Coast Routes

OTR Position | Home Most Weekends | $5,000 Retention Bonus

This Is an OTR Position

Please note: This is an Over-the-Road (OTR) driving position. We do not have local or daily home positions available.

Drivers based along the Wasatch Front and surrounding areas are typically home most weekends, but this position requires overnight travel throughout the workweek.

Our primary lanes run throughout the West Coast, including (but not limited to):

  • Washington

If you enjoy running consistent miles without being away for weeks at a time, this position offers a great balance between OTR driving and quality home time.

What We Offer

  • $5,000 West Coast Retention Bonus
    • Paid after successfully completing 6 months of active employment on our West Coast fleet.
    • Driver must remain actively employed at the time the bonus is paid.

  • Minimum of 3 years of verifiable Class A CDL driving experience
  • Strong driving record demonstrating safe and responsible operation
  • Ability to operate safely in compliance with all FMCSA regulations
  • Professional attitude and commitment to customer service
  • Must be willing to operate OTR West Coast routes

Why LTL?

Our LTL operation provides consistent freight while allowing drivers who live along the Wasatch Front to be home most weekends. You'll run West Coast freight, stay productive, and enjoy more predictable home time than many traditional OTR positions.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for experienced, safety-minded drivers who take pride in their equipment, communicate well, and understand the importance of dependable service.

If you're looking for an OTR West Coast driving position with consistent miles, weekend home time, and a company that rewards safe driving, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply today to join the Advantage Transportation team.
