The Salvation Army Mission: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an

human needs in His name without discrimination.

Summary/Primary Purpose: Lee County, Iowa is one of the highest food insecure counties in
Iowa. During the school year children are fed at school with breakfast and lunch, however, in
the summer many children go without proper nutrition. Working in conjunction with the Keokuk
School District, The Salvation Army provides a meal per day to children throughout Lee County
who are not able to walk to the school for a free summer lunch.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible to drive The Salvation Army vehicle following the EDS
    Canteen to each pick-up food to the distribution sites and return food to the school.
  • Assist with the serving of food and/or preparing a place for the children to eat.
  • Build quality healthy relationships with children from the local community through
    positive interaction.
  • Be a positive example and reflect the love of Jesus Christ, keeping this environment as
    uplifting and safe as possible.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere through appropriate conflict management, courteous
    demeanor, and professional and appropriate communication practices.
  • Ensure children eat the required food and assist them with cleaning up.
  • Perform other duties as assigned related to the Mobile Outreach Meals program.
  • This position may be required to work hours outside of normal business hours, to include
    holidays and weekends.
  • Driving is an essential requirement for this position.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge,
skill, and/or ability required for this position.

  • Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.

  • Basic skills in Microsoft software to the ability to access payroll, timekeeping, and
    personal data via a web-based system.
  • Team player, self-starter and performs well with minimal supervision.
  • Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-
    key, attention to details and filing.
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective
    working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
    Other Qualifications:
  • Must pass all applicable background checks.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be
    approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation
    Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
  • Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as
    established by The Salvation Army.
  • Attend the required Serve Safe program which the School District will provide.
