What does a weekend distillery worker do?

A Weekend Distillery worker is responsible for assisting in the production of spirits, such as whiskey or gin, during weekend shifts at a distillery. Their duties typically include operating distillation equipment, monitoring fermentation processes, cleaning and maintaining machinery, and ensuring quality control throughout the production process. They may also help with bottling, labeling, and packaging the final products. This role often requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently or as part of a small team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend distillery worker?

To thrive as a Weekend Distillery Worker, you need a basic understanding of distillation processes, attention to detail, and often a high school diploma or relevant work experience. Familiarity with industrial equipment, safety protocols, and possibly certifications in food safety or hazardous materials are typically beneficial. Strong teamwork, initiative, and effective communication help you stand out in this hands-on environment. These skills ensure safe, efficient production and maintain product quality during weekend operations.

What are some common challenges faced by weekend distillery workers, and how can they be addressed?

Weekend distillery workers often face challenges such as managing multiple production tasks within a compressed timeframe and ensuring consistent product quality during less-staffed shifts. Communication is key, as weekend teams may have fewer supervisors or support staff on-site, so keeping detailed logs and sharing updates with weekday teams helps maintain smooth operations. Additionally, adhering to strict safety protocols and troubleshooting machinery independently are common responsibilities. Proactive organization and familiarity with equipment can help address these challenges effectively.

Job description

Help us create the experiences people talk about.

Simple Man Distillery is looking for a creative, organized, outgoing Part-Time Events Manager to help grow our private events and special-event business. We’re not looking for someone who simply wants to manage a calendar. We’re looking for someone who sees an empty room and immediately starts imagining the fun and experience that will fill it.

Located at Cumming City Center, Simple Man Distillery is creating a distinctive destination built around local craft spirits, cocktails, hospitality, food, entertainment, and memorable experiences. Our events can range from intimate celebrations and private dinners to corporate gatherings, birthdays, wedding-related events, community functions, and experiences that are uniquely Simple Man.

Why This Is a Great Opportunity

This role gives you the chance to build something, not just maintain something that already exists. You’ll have a voice in how we market, sell, plan, and execute events, while developing relationships with guests, local businesses, event professionals, and the community.

You’ll be the person who takes an initial inquiry and turns it into a fantastic experience, working with clients to understand what they want, creating the details that make an event special, coordinating with our team, and making sure everything comes together when the guests walk through the door.

If you’re entrepreneurial, naturally social, exceptionally organized, and energized by the idea of making things happen, this could be a great fit.

What You’ll Do

  • Respond to event inquiries in a timely manner and turn prospects into booked events
  • Meet with prospective clients and help design their event experience
  • Coordinate private parties, corporate events, celebrations, and special programming
  • Develop new event concepts that generate excitement and revenue
  • Build relationships with local businesses, organizations, planners, and community groups
  • Coordinate event details with management, bartenders, kitchen staff, vendors and other team members
  • Create event timelines, checklists, floor plans, and other organizational materials
  • Manage event setup, execution, and breakdown when needed
  • Help promote upcoming events through social media, community outreach, and partnerships
  • Identify opportunities to increase event bookings, repeat business, and referrals
  • Make sure every event reflects the Simple Man brand and delivers an exceptional guest experience
  • Track inquiries, bookings, contracts, deposits, and important event details
  • Be the calm, capable person everyone can count on when event day gets busy

Who We’re Looking For

We want someone who is:

  • Outgoing and personable with excellent communication skills
  • Highly organized and comfortable juggling multiple events and deadlines
  • A natural relationship builder who enjoys talking with people
  • Creative enough to come up with ideas beyond the standard “rent the room and put out some chairs”
  • Comfortable selling an experience without being pushy
  • Resourceful, dependable, and willing to jump in wherever needed
  • Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays
  • Experienced in hospitality, events, sales, catering, restaurants, entertainment, or a related field
  • Someone who genuinely enjoys creating memorable experiences for other people

What You’ll Get

  • A flexible part-time schedule that is partially remote.
  • The opportunity to help shape and grow a new events program
  • A creative environment where your ideas can actually become reality
  • Direct interaction with ownership and management
  • Opportunities to build valuable relationships throughout the North Georgia community
  • A chance to grow the position and your responsibilities as the business grows
  • An exciting hospitality environment rather than a desk-and-spreadsheet-only job
  • The satisfaction of seeing an event you helped create come to life

Most importantly, you’ll have a seat at the table while we build something special.

If you’re the kind of person who can walk into a room, see its potential, befriend a client, organize details, rally a team, and make the whole thing look effortless, we want to meet you.

Apply to join Simple Man Distillery and help us make the ordinary occasion anything but ordinary.
