Job description

Windwalker Group is seeking Data Collectors to conduct survey research and collect observation data. All data collection will take place on-site at the National Museum of the Marine Corps (NMMC) in Triangle, VA.
In this position, Data Collectors will:
  • Recruit museum visitors to participate in surveys including:
    • Address any questions before and after participation
    • Inform visitors of their participation rights (voluntary participation, anonymity, confidentiality, and the right to withdraw)
    • Explain the survey process, including question types and completion options (paper and digital)
    • Provide visitors with paper and digital survey options (QR code)
  • Conduct observations of museum visitors in the galleries including:
    • Observing museum visitors' behaviors (e.g., visitors' interactions with exhibits and within the galleries)
    • Recording observation notes on an observation protocol document
    • Safeguard data (paper surveys and/or observation notes), and adhere to guidelines for submitting data
    • Maintain professional demeanor and attire while at the museum

Required Eligibility and Qualifications:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be available to work 4-to-8-hour shifts from 9a-5p ET, including weekdays and/or weekends and some holidays, when the museum is open
  • Must bring a personal smart phone
  • Preferred education and/or professional experience in one or more of the following areas: museum studies, sociology, psychology, anthropology, art history, research, or a related field
  • Preferred prior experience and/or coursework in research methods and/or data collection
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in the museum field is a plus

The pay range for this role is:
20 - 20 USD per hour (Triangle, VA)
