Weekend Data Analyst information

What is a weekend data analyst?

Weekend Data Analysts are professionals who specialize in collecting, processing, and analyzing data during weekends. They often work in industries that require continuous data monitoring or reporting, such as retail, finance, or customer service. Their responsibilities include preparing reports, identifying trends, and supporting decision-making processes outside of regular business hours. This role is ideal for organizations that need real-time data analysis or have operations extending through weekends.

What does a weekend data analyst do?

As a weekend data analyst, you work part-time and use analysis techniques to research trends and discover useful information from data. This job emphasizes getting results and creating reports from data, although the specific responsibilities of this position vary depending on the employer's needs. One of the most common duties of this job is working over the weekend to process data gained throughout the week to prepare a report summarizing the activity for that period. Companies that operate seven days a week often employ weekend data analysts to continue any data analysis tasks from earlier in the week, allowing the organization to function with no interruptions in its data analysis activities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend data analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Data Analyst, you need a strong background in statistical analysis, data interpretation, and a relevant degree in fields such as mathematics, statistics, or computer science. Familiarity with analytical tools like Excel, SQL, Python, or data visualization platforms such as Tableau is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for clearly presenting insights and collaborating remotely. These skills ensure timely, accurate analysis and enable data-driven decisions during weekend operations.

What does a typical weekend shift look like for a weekend data analyst, and how do responsibilities differ from weekday analysts?

As a Weekend Data Analyst, you’ll often work independently or with a smaller team, focusing on real-time data monitoring, reporting, and rapid issue escalation. Weekend shifts can involve handling time-sensitive data tasks, supporting ongoing operations, and preparing summary reports for weekday teams. While core analytical skills remain the same, you may need to troubleshoot urgent data anomalies and ensure smooth handovers to weekday analysts. This role is ideal for individuals comfortable with autonomy and proactive communication.

Search & Comparison IntentLooking for weekend-specific data rolesSeeking flexible or part-time data analysis jobs

The Weekend Data Analyst and Part-Time Data Analyst roles share similar credentials and work environments but differ mainly in scheduling. Weekend Data Analysts focus on weekend-specific hours, often for businesses needing weekend support, while Part-Time Data Analysts have flexible hours across the week. Both roles suit candidates seeking flexible work arrangements in data analysis.

Can you be a weekend data analyst as a side hustle?

Weekend data analysts can often work part-time or freelance schedules, making it feasible to pursue as a side hustle. They typically analyze data using tools like Excel, SQL, or Python, and may need to coordinate with their primary job to ensure availability during weekends. Flexibility depends on employer policies and project deadlines.

Job description

About Purple Carrot

Founded in 2014, Purple Carrot delivers clean, long-lasting energy through the power of plants. As the only company in America devoted entirely to plant-based eating, we have spent over a decade perfecting the balance of protein and fiber that only plants can provide. Offering chef-crafted, dietitian-designed meals delivered right to your door, we make plant-forward eating effortless, flexible, and endlessly exciting. Our menu spans quick weeknight dishes, occasion-worthy dinners, breakfast, lunch, snacks, and ready-to-eat meals.

Purple Carrot prioritizes taste and flexibility, offering no membership fees, the freedom to skip or unskip weekly deliveries whenever you want, and a no-pressure, cancel-anytime policy. We pride ourselves on doing plants better than anyone else - and we have the receipts to prove it.

Description

We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join our mission-driven team. As an integral part of the Data department, you will join forces with the Sr. Manager, Data and Analytics (to whom you will also report) in our continued effort to inspire people to eat more plants!

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about transforming and analyzing complex datasets into clear, actionable, and timely insights that drive strategic decision-making and improve business results.

As the Senior Data Analyst, you will be focused on leveraging SQL, Python, and BI tools to identify opportunities, optimize key metrics, and measure performance across the organization. This is a high-visibility role that partners directly and frequently with senior leadership, translating data into high-quality analysis to support the decisions the business acts on. You’ll also work closely with marketing and other teams across the organization to help them become proficient in the data assets you produce. You'll be part of a small data analytics team, so your work is visible, and your voice matters.

If you are a detail-oriented problem-solver who thrives at the intersection of data, analysis, and strategy, we'd like to meet you.

We greatly thank all applicants; however, only those under serious consideration will be contacted.

Location

  • This role is based in Dedham, MA, 3 days per week in the office.
  • Our hybrid approach includes 3 in-office days each week, giving teams the best of both flexibility and collaboration. Many team members choose to come in more often - it’s a great way to stay inspired and engaged with the team.

On the Plate

  • Query and analyze large datasets to extract and communicate meaningful insights.
  • Build and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using SQL, Python, and BI platforms (e.g., Looker, Omni, Sigma).
  • Build and apply machine learning models in Python — from predictive modeling (e.g., cancel/churn prediction, demand forecasting) to applied techniques (e.g., clustering, regression) that generate deeper analytical insight.
  • Train and support teams on the data assets you build, so they have what they need to self-serve.
  • Own forecasting and experimentation initiatives end-to-end, from framework design through measurement and recommendation.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to understand what they actually need and provide data-driven solutions.
  • Produce clear reports, visualizations, and presentations for leadership, with the ability to influence decisions without formal authority.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators and emerging trends.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and tasks as necessary.

Main Ingredients for the Role

  • 3+ years' experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar analytical role.
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science/Analytics) or equivalent experience.
  • Able to commute to the Dedham, MA office 3 days/week.
  • Proficient in SQL for data querying and transformation.
  • Skilled in Python - for advanced analysis and automation, including building and running machine learning models.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Omni, Sigma).
  • Strong Excel skills for analysis and reporting.

Extra Special Sauce

  • A collaborative team player who thrives on a small analytics team.
  • You love teaching almost as much as you love a clean dataset - nothing makes you happier than watching a teammate go from confused to confident.
  • You've got opinions, and you're not afraid to share them - pushing back when it's the right call, not just going along to get along.
  • You are adaptable to a fast-paced working environment with changing priorities based on the business needs
  • Genuine curiosity about the "why" behind the numbers, not just the "what."
  • Experience with dbt or modern data stack tools is a plus.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $95,000 - $115,000. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications, and the posted range is not a guarantee of any specific offer.

Garnish

We love our staff, and show it with benefits (including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, FSA, and life insurance), matching retirement plan, generous and flexible paid time off, Purple Carrot box delivery credits, professional development, and the opportunity to work in collaboration with teammates who are passionate about food!

Final Touches

We are committed to a safe and inclusive work environment, free of discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, genetics, national origin, ancestry, age, medical condition, mental or physical disability, handicap, veteran status, or marital status.
