What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Cybersecurity Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Cybersecurity Analyst, you need strong knowledge of network security, threat analysis, and incident response, often supported by a degree in cybersecurity or related field and certifications like CompTIA Security+ or CISSP. Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) tools, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and vulnerability assessment software is typically required. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills in this role. These abilities are vital for quickly identifying and mitigating threats to protect organizational assets during weekend shifts when staffing may be limited.

What are Weekend Cyber jobs?

Weekend Cyber jobs refer to cybersecurity positions that primarily require work during weekends. These roles can include monitoring network security, responding to incidents, or maintaining system defenses outside traditional weekday hours. Weekend Cyber professionals help ensure organizations remain protected at all times, especially when cyber threats can occur around the clock. These roles are ideal for individuals seeking flexible schedules or supplemental income while contributing to critical cybersecurity operations.

As a Weekend Cyber Security Analyst, you'll typically monitor security alerts, investigate suspicious activities, and respond to incidents during off-peak hours. A key challenge is working independently or with a small team when fewer resources are available compared to weekday shifts. Working closely with the North America Engineering and Global Engineering Teams, you will own the strategy to implement technology standards in your area of responsibility.

The Digital & Cyber Lead is the primary owner of the site's digital applications, cyber governance, and OT/IT integration roadmap. This role delivers the next generation of connected, secure, and datadriven factory operations by leading digital transformation initiatives while ensuring compliance with cyber security standards (such as IEC 62443) and operating critical OT cyber controls.

You will act as the site focal point for cyber security, lead digital execution plans, and ensure that automation, data, and technology systems are secure, resilient, and enabling operational excellence.

OT Cyber Security Leadership
  • Operate the Cyber Global Risk Management System (GRMS) at the site and ensure ongoing compliance with cyber controls.
  • Lead the site's IEC 62443 lifecycle activities, including risk assessments, patching, hardening, and vulnerability mitigation.
  • Act as the site focal point for cyber metrics, reporting, incident response coordination, and governance reviews.
  • Handle secure remote access systems and continuous threat detection platforms.
  • Liaise with Global Cyber Centres of Excellence to bring up and resolve threats.
OT Controls Systems & Automation Support
  • Provide consultation on Industrial Control & Automation Systems at the site, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, robotics, and networked control systems.
  • Guide site engineering teams on design standards, automation architectures, and integration requirements.
  • Support problem solving and issue resolution with onsite teams and 3rdparty integrators.
  • Own OT disaster recovery and business continuity plans, including simulation/testing.
Supplier & Contract Management
  • Manage key OT/digital vendors, including service level agreements, critical metrics, contract renewals, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee integrators providing automation, network, or cybersecurity services.
  • Ensure vendor access and remote support follows secure processes and audit controls.

  • Serve as a role model for ManEx / core processes, performance management, and continuous improvement.

This is a new role and is fundamental in facilitating a step change in the management and security of OT systems in Diageo. The role has the potential to be shaped by the individual and gives great opportunity to take ownership and demonstrate leadership. There will be an abundance of learning and growth opportunities due to the rapidly evolving nature of Operational Technology and the cyber-threats and technological advances within this field.
