Job description

Overview

The Custodian will oversee daily custodial activities at Touro University Nevada (TUN). The custodian will report to the Custodial Supervisor.

Located in Henderson, Nevada, approximately twenty-five minutes from the iconic Las Vegas strip, Touro University Nevada is a non-profit medical, health sciences, and education graduate university focused on positively impacting our community in healthcare and education. Responsibilities
  • Performs general, routine custodial duties to ensure the campus meets TUN high cleaning standard. Work includes dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, restocking paper and soap supplies and checking supply levels.
  • Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
  • Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into dumpsters.
  • Reports needs and concerns to Custodial Supervisor which may include submitting or recommending work orders.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Adheres to safe working practices and safety programs.
  • Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
  • Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
  • May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and may answer basic questions.
  • Basic understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Assist with event setups and other duties as directed.
    • Qualifications

    Education:

    • High School Diploma or GED Required.

    Experience:

    • 2 years of custodial experience

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Possession of a valid Nevada driver's license
    • Ability and clearance to drive company vehicles
    • Ability to work varied shifts
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
    • Good customer service skills with a desire to exceed customer's expectations
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to use and experience with auto scrubbers
    • Ability to use and experience with floor machines (buffers, KyVacs, etc.)
    • Ability to use carpet machines
    • Knowledge of custodial related chemicals and supplies
    • Ability to climb ladders up to 8 ft. and feel comfortable with heights
    • Ability to safely lift up to 30 lbs. regularly
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
    • Ability to bend, stoops, crouches, pushes, pulls, and reaches above shoulders in the performance of duties
    • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs
