Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Telemetry unit night shift position at a Level II Trauma Center in Reno, NV, requiring a minimum of 2 years of telemetry experience and an active NV RN license.

Details
  • Telemetry unit (T7) in a large 800-bed, Level II Trauma Center serving a 500-mile radius in Reno, NV
  • Patient population includes CHF, alcohol withdrawal, NSTEMI, sepsis, dysrhythmias, pneumonia, COPD, COVID, and post-procedure patients including pacemakers, ablations, cath lab, and OHS patients downgraded from ICU
  • Administers non-titratable cardiac medication drips including Cardizem, Lasix, and Nitro
  • Charting is done in Epic; training provided during orientation or candidates may test out
  • Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts per week (36 hours/week)
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating may be required to ICUs for telemetry/medically appropriate assignments, med/surg units, and other areas within the organization up to competency level
  • Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
  • 13-week contract
Requirements
  • Active NV RN license required prior to start; RNs who have never held a NV temp or permanent license may apply but must begin the application process immediately upon offer
  • Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience required
  • Must pass a telemetry competency exam including identification and measurement of rhythm strips — failure results in contract termination
  • Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
Additional Information
  • Provides individualized, patient-centered care across the nursing process for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and their families
  • Operates in a fast-paced, high-volume environment comparable in pace to a Level I trauma center
  • The facility is the only trauma center between Sacramento and Salt Lake City, treating over 80,000 ER and trauma patients annually
  • Minimum of 2 major holidays required during the contract
  • Blocked scheduling is not permitted
  • Travelers who have previously worked at this facility must take a 13-week break after their contract ends before returning
  • RTO requests must be submitted prior to consideration; time off is not added to the end of the contract to compensate for RTO
  • Time and attendance tracked via Kronos
