Position:              Hospitality Ambassador– Kansas Athletics Development

Summary:

The Kansas Athletics Development Hospitality Ambassador will assist in gameday preparations for assigned sport programs and premium hospitality areas. This opportunity will allow for students to gain exposure and experience in donor relations, membership engagement, game day logistics, and premium hospitality event preparation.
 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Position:

  • Assist in gameday preparations at home football, men’s basketball, and baseball games;
  • Represent Kansas Athletics and Kansas Athletics Development with superior customer service, conduct, dedication, and a positive attitude;
  • Work in various roles as needed during gamedays, including but not limited to: greeter, fan/staff liaison, parking lot assistant/shuttle driver, escort, suite ambassador, and access attendant.
  • Assist with all other Kansas Athletics Development offsite events as needed;
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change with little notice depending on the situation at hand;
  • Serve as a liaison between premium ticket holders, Williams Education Fund donors, Kansas Athletics Development, and hospitality staff (catering (OVG), facilities, security (Jayhawk Guest Services & CSC), and other KA personnel), to ensure proper servicing of hospitality areas and efficient fulfillment of ticket holder’s needs and requests;
  • Serve as an extension of the Athletics Department by being knowledgeable about Kansas Athletics, Allen Fieldhouse, David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, and all gameday operations;
  • Ensure that the hospitality/premium area is closed down properly, depending on the area assigned;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Kansas Athletics Development staff.

Work Environment

This job operates in a dynamic and fast-paced environment at KA football and men’s basketball games and related events, including in inclement weather. This job requires flexibility and adaptability in scheduling and the ability to perform job related duties on short notice. This role routinely uses various devices including cell phones and ticket scanners. 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This position may require frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; and working in all weather conditions.

Travel

Travel is not required for this position. However, this position may require operating an automobile such as a Gator, golf-cart, or supply van.

Hours of Work

This is a part-time position.  Days and hours of work will vary based on the needs of the position. Early morning, evening and weekend work may be required. Average work hours per week may not exceed 20 hours, or 999 hours per year.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a current student with the University of Kansas, in good academic standing. 
  • Ability and willingness to work a vast majority of home games and events for football, men’s basketball and baseball;
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, or holidays (Thanksgiving, Winter Break, and Spring Break) as needed during peak game seasons;
  • Demonstrate passion to provide world-class customer service and maintain a high level of professionalism while representing Kansas Athletics;
  • Must be team-oriented, intrinsically motivated, and able to handle a fast-paced working environment;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be 18 years of age and legally able to work in the U.S.
  • Must be available for training orientation on Monday, August 31 from 5pm to 6:30pm

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree seeking in related field of study such as sports management, business, or marketing. 
  • Maintain a valid state issued driver’s license and a safe driving record;
  • Knowledge of collegiate sports, or previous athletic experience in general.
