Job description

Grand Canyon University Athletics is seeking GCU Athletics Livestream/Broadcast Crew members to support the mission of Grand Canyon University through GCU's Athletics Department.

Purpose within the Organization:

The purpose of the GCU Athletics Livestream/Broadcast Crew member is to assist with production of live athletics events for the Athletics Department. This includes pre-production, production and post-production livestreamed athletics events and also includes assisting on creative video content.

**This job has hours that vary based on the Athletic Events Schedule and hours aren't guaranteed. This position isfor those looking for experience in the live/broadcast production field.

**This job will require working evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities Related to Purpose:

All GCU Athletics Livestream Crew will be responsible for the following:

  • Serving as Crew members on live athletic productions.
  • Current sports livestreamed include: Men's & Women's Soccer, Men's & Women's Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Baseball, and Softball (note: other sports may be added over time)
  • A crew member position on each event includes camera operators, replay operators, graphics operators, directors/producers, and with audition can serve as on-air commentators
  • Assisting full-time staff in production of content related to social media, videoboard, broadcast, livestreams, other events.
  • If skilled with creative video, videography for sporting events, practices, and other athletic related events.
  • Video content includes highlight videos, longform stories, interviews, features, hype videos, promos, and more.
  • Assisting with pre-production and planning for both live broadcasts and on location filming such as scheduling film shoots, writing interview questions, creating live event breakdowns, and more.
  • Aiding in data management and organization of digital assets.

Equipment Used & Responsibility

Live Event Equipment - Motion Rocket Graphics operation, 3Play replay Operation, Black Magic or Sony Cameras

Working knowledge of Sony Video Cameras is a plus

Working knowledge of Sony Lenses is a plus

Basic Knowledge Editing Software such as Adobe Creative Cloud or Final Cut Pro

Qualifications:

  • A passion and understanding of sports and sports terminology.
  • A successful student candidate must showcase an excellent eye for creating captivating video, outstanding video production skills, deadline driven and well-developed sense of urgency.
  • Basic knowledge of camera operation, which includes operating a camera in a live event.
  • Flexible Schedule
  • Can showcase outstanding judgment in selection of b-roll and sound bites.
  • Ability to work and think quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates the ability to conduct interviews with a variety of subjects and extract meaningful information.
  • Being able to work independently and in a group.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, learn new skills, and learn new software.
  • Skills and experience in creative video a bonus.

Experience/Education:

Grand Canyon University is committed to astudentfirst policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered forstudentemployment:

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor's program or Master's program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2027
