Position Title: Filmmaker & Visual Storyteller
Campus: All
Reports To: Creative Team Manager
Status: Full-time
Position Summary:
The Filmmaker & Visual Storyteller helps tell the story of what God is doing through Central Christian Church by creating compelling, high-quality visual content that connects with people and supports the mission and vision of Central.
This role combines strong creative storytelling with hands-on filmmaking expertise. The Filmmaker & Visual Storyteller develops ideas and carries video projects from concept through completion, including pre-production, filming, lighting, directing, editing, color grading, sound design, and final delivery.
Working closely with the Creative Team Manager, Creative Director, and other members of the Marketing and Creative Team, this person will create content for weekend experiences, sermon series, campaigns, events, social media, YouTube, ministry initiatives, and content for ministries at Central.
The ideal candidate is both a creative storyteller and technically skilled filmmaker who understands how cinematography, editing, sound, pacing, and visual design work together to create content that moves people.
This position is connected to the faith and ministry of the church and advances the vision of Central Christian Church
Responsibilities:
  • Create compelling, story-driven video content that supports the mission and vision of Central Christian Church.
  • Own video projects from concept through final delivery, including pre-production, production, and post-production.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Team Manager, Creative Director, ministry partners, and other creatives to develop concepts, treatments, and visual approaches for projects.
  • Help develop creative concepts for sermon series, seasonal campaigns, the weekend experience, ministry stories, social media, YouTube, and other church initiatives.
  • Plan and execute video productions including scripting, storyboarding, shot planning, locations, scheduling, talent, equipment, and other production needs.
  • Direct and capture video using professional camera, lighting, audio, and production equipment.
  • Help direct staff, volunteers, ministry participants, and other talent during productions to capture authentic and compelling performances and stories.
  • Edit video projects from initial assembly through final delivery with strong attention to storytelling, pacing, music, sound design, and emotional impact.
  • Creatively color grade and finish video content while maintaining consistent visual quality and brand standards.
  • Capture photography for campaigns, ministry stories, events, weekend experiences, and other Creative Team needs when appropriate.
  • Create or adapt basic supporting graphics and visual assets when needed.
  • Prepare and optimize content for different platforms and formats, including weekend environments, YouTube, social media, websites, and digital campaigns.
  • Collaborate with designers, filmmakers, marketing team members, production staff, contractors, and other creatives throughout the creative process.
  • Bring creative ideas and visual storytelling recommendations to planning, brainstorming, and strategy conversations.
  • Continuously research filmmaking, storytelling, social content, visual trends, technology, and emerging creative tools to help raise the quality of Central's visual content.
  • Maintain organized project files, footage, photography, and completed assets within Central's digital asset management systems.
  • Help maintain and organize video, photography, lighting, and production equipment.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high standard of creative excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills & Experience:
  • Strong portfolio or demo reel demonstrating excellence in filmmaking and visual storytelling.
  • Strong understanding of cinematography, composition, lighting, camera operation, and audio capture.
  • Strong video editing skills with an understanding of narrative structure, pacing, music, and emotional storytelling.
  • Proficiency with professional editing and post-production tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and other visual design tools.
  • Familiarity of Adobe After Effects or similar motion graphics tools a bonus.
  • Experience taking projects from concept through production and final delivery.
  • Ability to communicate creative ideas clearly and collaborate effectively with both creative and non-creative team members.
  • Ability to direct people comfortably and help individuals communicate authentically on camera.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Continually curious about filmmaking, storytelling, culture, technology, and emerging creative trends.

The employee must occasionally lift or move up to twenty-five pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
