Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Determine, budget, plan and execute advertising, promotional, and member engagement strategies for FCFC. Provide leadership role in planning marketing strategies with management team. Coordinates with the Scanning department to plan, execute and manage sales and promotional events, in-store signage, and external promotional/advertising campaigns.


Coordinates and develops Membership meetings, member benefits and programs in conjunction with the general manager and board committee. Editor and publisher of the Co-op newsletter. Organizes annual Earth Day celebration. Manages in-store and external promotional events and coordinates member volunteer programs. Administers donations and contributions budget.


Responsible for day-to-day marketing/outreach activities and for developing job descriptions, job postings, and hiring, evaluation, and corrective actions of marketing assistants, specialists, interns and member volunteers.


INTERACTION

External:

  • Regular contact with local media and advertising salespeople.
  • Frequent contact with charity organizations, vendors, customers and members.
  • Frequent contact with local businesspeople.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Marketing and/or Advertising: Designing ad campaigns for print & radio, media buying, copywriting, print design and production skills. Event and meeting planning.


Organizational skills; ability to utilize budget effectively; ability to work with all management and staff to obtain store-wide participation in store marketing endeavors.


Appropriate communication and media skills.


Experience creating and administering advertising budget desired.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


MARKETING

Print: Design of print advertising campaigns for local publications, in-store signage, bag-stuffers, brochures, direct- mail, etc.


Social Media: Writing, production and scheduling social media advertising campaigns.


Events: Concept, planning and organizing monthly store promotions and major annual events.

Public Relations and Press Kits: Reaching all local media with press releases of major events and food industry education for editorial and Public Relations exposure.


Surveys: Create and track store surveys as needed to collect customer feedback for effective marketing.


Acquisition of Vendor Co-Op Advertising Dollars: Negotiate with product vendors and DL's to obtain increased advertising dollars.


Marketing: Plan and create image and marketing strategy with the help of Mgmt. team to ensure viability of FCFC


MEMBER OUTREACH

Member Volunteer Program:

  • Ensure member participation complies with applicable regulations.
  • Maintain member participation records.
  • Direct/refer member participant to appropriate staff/department.
  • Track member participation hours.

Annual Member Meeting:

  • Coordinate Annual Member meeting as needed by the Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate publicity for Annual Meeting.

New Member Benefits:

  • Develop new projects and benefits in accordance with member requests and needs.
  • Assist in maintaining Member Directory.
  • Develop new member programs
  • Publicize new programs
  • Publicize membership benefits
  • Other member-related work as needed by FCFC.
  • Utilize community resources for member benefit.

Special Events:

  • Work with staff, management, and Board of Directors to manage special events.

Newsletter:

  • Acquire articles of interest in accordance with FCFC’s mission.
  • Edit and publish on a timely basis to meet quarterly deadlines.
  • Ensure and coordinate online/web publication on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintain costs within budget requirements.

Other:

  • Encourage recycling throughout the store and community.
  • Assist in other departments when appropriate, without compromising your own responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
