Job Title: Nursing Home Cook

Schedule is 12p-8p week 1: Sunday & Friday, week 2: Monday and Saturday

Job Summary:

We are seeking Cooks to join our dynamic care team at Lanessa Extended Care in Webster. You will play a vital role in ensuring the quality of food service for our residents. Weekly pay at $21 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare food to ensure quality food service is provided at all times under the direction of our Director of Dining Services

  • Follow therapeutic diets ordered by physicians

  • Ensure proper serving temperature of food

  • Maintain visual appeal of food

  • Monitor daily nourishments, follow standardized recipes, and assure proper portion control

  • Adhere to sanitation and storage policy and procedure

  • Perform other duties assigned by the manager

Requirements:

  • Prior culinary experience

  • Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action

  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public

  • Knowledge of dining service procedures as well as related laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to hospital and nursing home operations

  • Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel

  • Ability to maintain care and use of supplies, equipment, and the appearance of work areas

  • Ability to perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties

  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, with the willingness to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning
