Job description

Position Summary:

The Platform Engineer, Specialist supports the enterprise workload automation and job scheduling environment, ensuring batch workloads and application jobs are configured, promoted, and executed according to established standards. This role partners closely with Software Integration (SI) teams, application developers, and operations teams to coordinate the onboarding, deployment, and ongoing support of scheduled workloads across non-production and production environments. The position serves as a functional expert for workload automation tools, providing guidance on job dependencies, workflow design, scheduling standards, and troubleshooting execution issues. Success in this role requires strong operational awareness, relationship management skills, and the ability to learn and support enterprise scheduling technologies such as Control-M or similar orchestration platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure, maintain, and support enterprise job scheduling and workload automation solutions, including Control-M or comparable tools.

  • Partner with application development and Software Integration teams to onboard, validate, and deploy scheduled workloads into non-production and production environments.

  • Review job definitions, workflows, dependencies, calendars, triggers, and scheduling requirements to ensure compliance with established standards.

  • Execute workload promotion and migration activities between environments while maintaining operational stability.

  • Monitor batch processing and scheduled workloads, identifying and analyzing job failures, dependency issues, and workflow disruptions.

  • Collaborate with application teams to diagnose scheduling-related issues and recommend corrective actions.

  • Serve as a subject matter resource on scheduling standards, workload automation best practices, and operational procedures.

  • Document scheduling processes, support procedures, and operational standards.

  • Participate in production support activities and scheduled deployment events.

  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workload automation efficiency, reliability, and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant experience.

  • 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise scheduling, workload automation, production operations, application support, or a related IT operations function.

  • Experience with Control-M strongly preferred; experience with comparable workload automation or scheduling tools such as Autosys, Tidal, Redwood, Stonebranch, UC4/Automic, Dollar Universe, or similar technologies will be considered.

  • Understanding of job scheduling concepts, workflow orchestration, batch processing, job dependencies, triggers, calendars, and execution monitoring.

  • Experience supporting production applications and operational processes in a large enterprise environment.

  • Ability to investigate and analyze workload failures and coordinate resolution with technical support and development teams.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and operational processes.

  • Experience documenting procedures, standards, and support processes.

  • Familiarity with IT operations, incident management, change management, or production support practices preferred.
