  • Monitor construction activities to ensure design, technical specifications, and contracts are followed and that work is completed according to schedule and within budget.
  • Prepare job planning documentation working closely with project stakeholders.
  • Assess the quality of the HSSE discussions & written daily job plans.
  • Attend pre-bid, pre-construction, & monthly construction meetings, including documentation of meeting minutes.
  • Conduct Safe Work and Environmental Observations on medium and high risk work.
  • Attend all Contractor's Health, Safety and Environmental meetings.
  • Inspection of all work performed to ensure compliance with the contract drawings, technical specifications, regulatory requirements and applicable codes.
  • Prepare and submit daily construction reports, reporting on health & safety, environmental, and construction progress.
  • Recommend corrective courses of action to management as issues arise.
  • Recommend changes in the work plan if efficiency in work practices can be improved.
  • Conduct contractor post-work evaluations regarding health and safety, environmental, technical, project management and financial performance.

Requirements

  • An interest in renewable energy production, specifically hydroelectric power;

  • Basic knowledge to be able to inspect in-progress construction work to ensure compliance with the contract documents, technical specifications, permits, and drawings.
  • Ability to organize, plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface and coordinate work daily with other Brookfield divisions and external organizations.
  • Good negotiation skills with clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal daily supervision.
  • A practical, adaptable, innovative, collaborative, and solution-focused approach to issues.
  • Due to the size of the region, some projects will require travel, with most using an out-of-town work during the week / home-on-the weekends structure; depending on the proximity of the project to the successful candidates reporting office.
  • Hours will be project-specific and will vary.  While 40-50 hours per week is typical, weeks requiring 50-60+ hours will be common during peak construction season

Salary: $90k-$105k/yr.

Target Bonus: 10%
