Content Developer II – Video Production

Alabama Power is seeking an experienced Content Developer II to create tutorial, promotional, and demonstration videos for software tools and applications. This role will also develop technical documentation, user guides, manuals, online help content, and knowledge-base materials.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience using Camtasia to produce software-focused training and demonstration videos and be able to translate complex technical information into clear, engaging content for nontechnical users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Script, record, edit, and produce software tutorial, promotional, and demonstration videos.
  • Create screen recordings, voiceovers, annotations, graphics, and other visual elements using Camtasia.
  • Develop technical documentation, user manuals, product guides, job aids, and online help content.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly language.
  • Review and improve existing videos and documentation for clarity, consistency, accuracy, and usability.
  • Apply user-centered design and instructional-content principles.
  • Develop content for videos, printed materials, SharePoint, knowledge bases, and online platforms.
  • Coordinate with graphic designers and illustrators to incorporate branded visuals and diagrams.
  • Edit, proofread, and perform quality-control reviews.
  • Maintain and update content as software, products, and processes change.
  • Gather user feedback and use it to improve content quality.
  • Manage multiple projects, deadlines, versions, and content approvals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Media Production, Instructional Design, or a related technical field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in content development, technical writing, video production, or a related role.
  • Required hands-on experience using Camtasia to create software-centered videos.
  • Experience creating tutorial, demonstration, promotional, or training videos.
  • Proficiency with Camtasia, Snagit, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Strong writing, editing, scripting, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for nontechnical audiences.
  • Experience with document formatting, visual design, style guides, and content standards.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating content for software tools, enterprise applications, or technical products.
  • Experience with voiceover recording, screen capture, video editing, and visual storytelling.
  • Familiarity with content-management systems, version control, and knowledge-base platforms.
  • Utility, energy, or regulated-industry experience is preferred.
