Job Description

Pennoni is a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm with 40 offices throughout the eastern States, including three offices centered in Northeastern PA.

Pennoni Associates is currently seeking Construction Inspectors for projects in Hazelton, PA. The Construction Inspectors will have qualifications and experience consistent with, but not limited to:

  • Performing inspection on general building construction, utility line installations, bridge construction, earth embankment and dam projects and other transportation projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Communicate and coordinate with contractors, project team, and supervisor staff.
  • Perform field measurements.
  • Complete material tests, such as soil compaction, concrete, and asphalt testing and entering information and test results into report format.
  • Preparing clear and concise daily field reports in a timely manner, which includes photographs.
  • Creating as-built drawings of completed work.
  • Able to work construction hours, which may include night assignments and/or overtime.

Required Attributes:

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver's License with reliable transportation
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work well in team settings
  • Must be willing to work safely outdoors in differing weather conditions, near heavy equipment and construction operations, within highway work zones and be physically able to perform field work.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Prior experience in Construction Inspection.
  • Familiarity with PennDOT 408 specifications, applications, standard drawings and other relevant construction standard publications.
  • Additional certifications including ACI, NECEPT Concrete Technician Certification, NECEPT Bituminous Field Technician, OSHA 10 hour.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends is a plus
  • Associate's degree in Civil Engineering related field is a plus
  • NICET Certified (Highway Construction) is a plus
  • Geotech/soils experience a plus
