TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking Construction Laborers to join our team in Tampa, FL. Construction Laborers support a variety of infrastructure projects, including Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), underground utility, electrical, telecommunications, and fiber optic installation activities.


Position Summary

This hands-on role supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of transportation technology and utility infrastructure. Work may include electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; pole and foundation installation; and other general construction activities. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in infrastructure construction and transportation technology.

What You'll Do

  • Install cameras, detectors, controller cabinets, and other ITS equipment.
  • Install electrical, data, and fiber optic cable.
  • Install conduit, pull boxes, poles, and foundations.
  • Connect conductors and cabling to equipment and power sources.
  • Test equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Assist with various construction and infrastructure projects as assigned.
  • Document field conditions and installation activities.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and project requirements.
  • Travel to project sites as needed using company-provided transportation.

What We're Looking For

  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required project security clearances, including Florida SLERS clearance.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including climbing ladders, working at heights, and lifting heavy materials.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, or on-call schedules when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in construction, utilities, telecommunications, fiber optic installation, electrical work, or related industries.
  • Fiber optic cable installation experience is a plus.
  • Class B CDL.
  • Technical certifications or vocational training.
  • Experience with ITS, CCTV, communications, or traffic technology systems.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
