BASIC JOB SUMMARY:
The overall purpose of this job is to work construction and maintenance of aerial and buried plant facilities. Job requires familiarity with industry concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs a variety of tasks. Relies on experience, judgment, and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The essential job functions and duties described below may not be the only requirements of the position. It may be necessary to follow other instructions or perform other related duties required by the company.
  • Works construction of copper and fiber optic installations, additions, and repair jobs
  • Maintains upkeep of vehicles and equipment
  • Loads and unloads necessary materials for construction, maintenance, and tear downs and operate a personal vehicle. May require a commercial driver's license
  • Must follow and adhere to all standard operating procedures to promote safety including utilizing necessary safety equipment on all jobs
  • Follow safe work practices and adheres to the TEC safety handbook and OSHA guidelines
  • Ability to operate various construction machinery including backhoe, mini track, cable plows, trenchers and, bucket trucks other machines. Operate trucks with trailers, ability to back a trailer and load / unload equipment
  • Must have ability to work with online mapping tools and GIS systems
  • Operate Facilities Management (FM) system including updating and closing trouble tickets and service orders using online computer systems. Proficient in use of computer for processing trouble tickets and service orders
  • Responsible for adherence to all standard operating procedures to promote safety of all employees

Requirements
Education/Experience - Requires an understanding of telephone plant construction and related equipment; written and verbal communication skills usually acquired through the attainment of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience and approximately two years of general construction experience.
