Job description

With offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio, Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm that primarily serves the private sector. Pepper Construction provides clients the experience and resources of a national company, combined with the hands-on approach of a local company.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Laborer you may perform any combination of tasks to assist on the construction site. This position performs a wide variety of duties and tasks that often require them to assist other trades people including carpenters.
  • Loading, unloading, and moving materials from within or near the construction site from pallets, skids, trucks, or other locations.
  • Move materials to or from storage or work sites
  • Driving equipment as needed
  • Selective demolition, concrete placement or flagging
  • Proficient in stacking and assembling materials into bundles
  • Making simple repairs and adjustments to machinery or trucks
  • Work independently and with little direction
  • Have initiative to find work activities when waiting for next task directive
  • Assist Carpenter's general partition layout, framing, sheet rock installation and other rough and finish carpentry work as assigned
  • Build temporary protection including barricades, visqueen, floor protection, etc.
  • General clean-up including vacuuming, sweeping, and rubbish removal
  • Selective demolition of non-load bearing walls, ceilings, and flooring material and clean up of all demolition debris
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Relevant experience in commercial construction, preferred.
  • OSHA 10, preferred.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and ability to multi-task.
  • Task-oriented, reliable, and committed to meeting deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible availability, may include some overtime, weekends, and night shifts.
