Weekend Construction information

What is weekend construction?

Weekend construction jobs refer to roles within the construction industry that are scheduled primarily on weekends, often to accommodate project deadlines or minimize disruption to regular business hours. These jobs can include positions such as laborers, carpenters, electricians, or supervisors, and may involve tasks like building, repairing, or renovating structures. Weekend construction work is commonly sought after by students, part-time workers, or professionals looking to supplement their income. These jobs may also offer flexibility or premium pay rates due to the non-traditional schedule.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend construction worker?

To thrive as a Weekend Construction Worker, you need a basic understanding of construction techniques, familiarity with safety protocols, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience with hand and power tools, as well as knowledge of OSHA regulations, are typically important, and some roles may require certifications like OSHA 10 or forklift operation. Strong teamwork, reliability, and effective communication are key soft skills for success on busy job sites. These skills and qualifications ensure work is completed efficiently and safely, minimizing risks and supporting project timelines even during weekend shifts.

What are some typical challenges faced by weekend construction workers, and how can they be managed effectively?

Weekend construction workers often face the challenge of condensed timelines, as projects need to be completed within a limited period while minimizing disruption to weekday operations. This can lead to fast-paced work environments that require efficient planning and strong teamwork. To manage these challenges, clear communication with supervisors and colleagues is essential, as is being adaptable and prepared for unexpected changes. Ensuring familiarity with safety protocols and making effective use of available resources can also help maintain productivity and safety during weekend shifts.

Job description

Rushmore Construction Group Construction Site Supervisor Location: Oakhurst, NJ & Active Job Sites Throughout Monmouth County

Own the Details. Protect the Standard.

Rushmore Construction Group is a growing custom luxury home builder based in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Our projects demand craftsmanship, careful coordination, and an uncompromising eye for quality. From the earliest stages of construction through final handover, we believe the details matter, and we're looking for someone who takes the same pride in getting them right.

We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Construction Site Supervisor to serve as our boots-on-the-ground presence across active residential construction projects. This is a field-first position. You'll spend most of your time on job sites working directly with subcontractors, inspecting work, solving problems, and making sure every phase is completed according to the plans, applicable codes, schedule, and Rushmore's quality standards.

You won't be responsible for managing project budgets or owning the client relationship; that's the Project Manager's responsibility. Your focus is the construction itself: understanding how a home goes together, catching problems before they get covered up, and holding trades accountable for doing the work correctly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary on-site presence across multiple active residential construction projects.
  • Monitor subcontractor work and verify compliance with plans, specifications, and Rushmore quality standards.
  • Confirm that appropriate materials, fasteners, installation methods, and construction details are being used.
  • Conduct quality-control walkthroughs before work advances to the next trade or construction phase.
  • Identify deficiencies early and work with subcontractors to resolve them before they become larger problems.
  • Read and interpret complete sets of construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Translate construction documents into clear direction for subcontractors in the field.
  • Ensure work complies with applicable New Jersey residential building codes and inspection requirements.
  • Coordinate with inspectors when needed and communicate compliance issues to the Project Manager.
  • Confirm subcontractor arrival dates and sequencing against the project schedule.
  • Understand subcontractor scopes and identify unauthorized scope expansion, substitutions, or upselling.
  • Hold trades accountable for workmanship, schedule, and agreed scope.
  • Communicate delays, conflicts, deficiencies, and site issues to the Project Manager promptly.
  • Maintain rolling punch lists throughout construction.
  • Ensure punch-list items are resolved ahead of phase transitions and final closeout.
  • Prepare projects for successful handover in coordination with the Project Manager.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on residential construction, trade, contractor, or relevant job-site experience preferred.
  • Custom-home construction experience is highly valued, although candidates with strong hands-on trade backgrounds will also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of how residential construction projects and job sites operate.
  • Working knowledge of New Jersey residential building codes and construction best practices.
  • Ability to read a complete set of construction drawings and translate them into field execution.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to recognize problems before work is concealed or the next trade begins.
  • Practical knowledge of subcontractor and trade operations.
  • Able to hold subcontractors accountable while maintaining productive working relationships.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel between active job sites throughout the area.
  • A hands-on, solutions-focused mindset and genuine pride in doing the job correctly; not simply quickly.
Pay & Benefits
  • Full-Time, W-2 Employment
  • Pay: $65,000 - $80,000 base salary, commensurate with experience.
  • Performance bonus opportunity based on project quality, accountability, and overall company performance.
  • Mileage and gas reimbursement.
  • Paid time off.
  • Opportunity to work on distinctive custom luxury residential projects.
  • Growth opportunities as Rushmore continues to expand its project portfolio and team.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, with occasional early morning, evening, or weekend work as project schedules require.
Why Rushmore Construction Group?

At Rushmore, quality isn't something checked only at the end of a project; it's protected every day on the job site. You'll have the authority and responsibility to make sure subcontractors meet the standards expected on high-end custom homes while working closely with a small, accessible leadership and project-management team. The environment is hands-on, fast-moving, and built for people who like solving real construction problems instead of navigating layers of corporate bureaucracy. If you know your way around a job site and take pride in getting the details right, you can make a visible impact here.

Rushmore Construction Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

We consider qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
