Job description

Job Summary

Superintendent is responsible for all phases of the construction project including coordinating subcontractors, material, and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Superintendent is responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control and job site safety.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact with owners/ architects/ engineers/ subcontractors for the day-to-day construction activities of the project.
  • Developing and implementing overall project work schedules identifying the critical path including the expediting of scheduled critical materials and equipment for their timely delivery to site.
  • Developing and managing the overall site safety program as required and ensuring subcontractor compliance with standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Managing and making decisions related to the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and trade employee staffing levels.
  • Overseeing work among all trades to promote a coordinated project operation
  • Acting as liaison to inspection agencies.
  • Managing the General Conditions and General Requirements for the project to maintain budget.
  • Managing the billing process as it relates to work in place and overseeing the monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices and subcontractor payment applications.
  • Managing the work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.
  • A working knowledge of Construction methods, safety, scheduling, quality assurance, plans and specifications, estimating, bidding and project documents are desired.
  • Collaborate with Estimating/Preconstruction Team on the project schedule, logistics, safety, constructability reviews, general conditions, and general requirements.

Education & Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Construction science, Construction management preferred
  • 7+ yearsโ€™ experience
  • Demonstrated ability to thoroughly understand drawings and specifications, general contract and subcontract documents, materials, means and methods.
  • Must be able to manage tight deadlines and the responsibility of accurately forecasting the budget for a project.
  • Candidate must be self-motivated, well organized, and able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends.
  • Jobsite cleanliness.
  • Ability to work in occupied space.
  • Proficient with MS Office Word and Outlook.
