C.J. Hughes Construction Co., Inc. is looking for a reliable and safety-conscious individual to join our Flagging Department as a Flagging and Traffic Control Technician. This role involves assisting with traffic control and flagging duties to ensure safe and efficient movement of vehicles around construction sites. The ideal candidate will have experience in flagging and traffic control and be prepared to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Traffic Direction: Use hand signals and direction signs to safely direct traffic around construction zones.

  • Team Communication: Coordinate with other flaggers using two-way radios to manage alternating traffic flows.

  • Crew Safety: Inform the construction crew of any traffic issues that may impact safety.

  • Signage Setup: Place appropriate warning and detour signs around construction sites.

  • Barricades and Cones: Set up and remove barricades, cones, and other barriers to mark restricted areas.

  • Heavy Lifting and Physical Endurance: Perform prolonged lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, and crouching.

  • Awareness in Hazardous Areas: Maintain heightened awareness in the “red zone” of heavy equipment.

  • Adaptable Schedule and Travel: Be flexible to work various schedules and locations, with occasional overnight travel on short notice.

  • Reliable Transportation: Must have dependable transportation to travel to different job sites.

Requirements:

  • Driver’s License: Valid license required.

  • Background Check: Must have a clean background and Motor Vehicle record

  • Relocation: Must be willing to travel to each job location necessary.

  • 18 years old or older

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of flagging experience.

  • ATSSA Certification (preferred).

  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with other team members and the public.

Schedule:

  • Standard shifts include 8- and 10-hour shifts, with possible overtime.
