Bronx Green-Up Program Manager

Senior Director of Bronx Green-Up and Community Horticulture

Position Summary:

The Bronx Green-Up Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the full range of Bronx Green-Up's community outreach and education efforts. This role includes managing data collection, reporting and other administrative functions; supervising outreach and education staff and volunteers; coordinating outreach and education initiatives; and maintaining communications with NYBG staff, community partners, and collaborative networks. In coordination with program staff, the Program Manager also leads workshops, trainings, and other programmatic activities. This position plays a central role in supporting community gardens, school gardens, urban farms, composting initiatives and other local greening projects throughout the Bronx.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Oversee Bronx Green-Up's outreach and education program areas

Lead the development, coordination, outreach, and implementation of programs, activities, and events that engage the public in Bronx Green-Up efforts

Oversee the preparation and submission of financial and programmatic reports, including tracking and maintaining relevant data

Coordinate and provide technical assistance and training to Bronx residents, schools, community sites, neighborhood groups, and nonprofit organizations interested in composting and environmental stewardship

Develop, coordinate, and facilitate workshops, trainings, and other programmatic initiatives as needed

Oversee recruitment, training, coordination, and development of staff and volunteers

Manage purchasing, inventory, storage, and maintenance of tools and supplies

Support the Bronx Green-Up team as needed and as directed by the Senior Director of Bronx Green-Up

Availability for some evening and weekend hours is required

Local travel within the Bronx is required

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

Minimum of five years of professional experience in community outreach, education, environmental programming, or a related field

Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and administrative skills

Demonstrated knowledge of and strong commitment to composting, community greening, and environmental stewardship

Experience supervising staff and coordinating volunteers in community-based or public-facing settings

Experience working with diverse communities and partners, independently and as part of a collaborative team, in a variety of settings

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other common computer applications for communication, tracking, and reporting

Valid New York State driver's license

Bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to, at minimum, work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, stand, sit, crouch, kneel, and walk, climb stairs and\or ladders, use hand tools, and lift and\or move move up to 25 pounds.

Baseline Work Schedule:

Monday- Friday, 9am-5pm

Salary: commensurate with experience within the range of $75,000-$80,000
