Job description

Outpatient Clinical Therapist

Treatment and Support Center (TASC)
Columbus, Indiana
Full-Time | On-Site | Outpatient Behavioral Health

JOIN A MISSION THAT CHANGES LIVES!

Treatment and Support Center (TASC), in partnership with Ascension Recovery Services, is seeking a compassionate and experienced Outpatient Clinical Therapist to join our team in Columbus, Indiana.

This position provides outpatient counseling and clinical services to adults navigating substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Our therapists have the opportunity to build meaningful therapeutic relationships while helping patients strengthen recovery skills, address the underlying factors contributing to substance use, and build sustainable lives in recovery.

Unlike a traditional inpatient environment, outpatient treatment allows clinicians to help patients apply what they are learning in treatment directly to the challenges they face at home, at work, and within their families and communities.

About Us

TASC provides community-based outpatient treatment for individuals experiencing substance use disorders and related behavioral health needs.

Our approach is individualized, evidence-based, and recovery focused. We recognize that there is no single pathway to recovery, and treatment should reflect each patient’s goals, strengths, needs, and circumstances.

Through counseling, treatment planning, recovery support, care coordination, and collaboration with medical and community providers, our team helps individuals establish the skills and support systems necessary for long-term recovery.

Why You Should Join Us

You’ll join a collaborative behavioral health team where your clinical expertise matters and where the work you do directly impacts patients, families, and the community.

We offer:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Company-paid basic life insurance
  • Short Term Disability
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Paid Time Off
  • Paid holidays
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Continuing education and professional development opportunities
  • Clinical supervision and collaborative interdisciplinary support
  • Opportunities for professional growth within an expanding behavioral health organization

What You’ll Do

As an Outpatient Clinical Therapist, you will provide evidence-based behavioral health treatment to adults with substance use disorders and, when applicable, co-occurring mental health conditions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct comprehensive behavioral health and substance use assessments
  • Provide individual counseling based on each patient’s treatment needs and recovery goals
  • Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups
  • Develop, implement, review, and update individualized treatment plans
  • Help patients identify triggers, relapse risks, behavioral patterns, coping strategies, and recovery supports
  • Utilize evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, trauma-informed approaches, and other clinically appropriate interventions
  • Address co-occurring mental health concerns within the therapist’s scope of practice
  • Support patients transitioning from higher levels of care into outpatient treatment and long-term recovery
  • Provide relapse-prevention education and recovery-focused interventions
  • Engage families and natural supports when clinically appropriate and authorized by the patient
  • Coordinate care with medical providers, case managers, peer recovery professionals, probation or court partners, and community resources as appropriate
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment-team meetings and clinical case consultation
  • Complete clinical documentation accurately and within established timelines
  • Maintain treatment plans, progress notes, assessments, discharge documentation, and other required clinical records
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and patient confidentiality
  • Follow HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, professional ethical standards, organizational policies, and applicable state and federal requirements
  • Participate in supervision, training, quality improvement initiatives, and professional development activities

Who You Are

You believe people are capable of meaningful and lasting change.

You understand that substance use disorders are complex and that effective treatment requires compassion, accountability, strong clinical skills, and an individualized approach.

You are comfortable working with patients who may be navigating substance use, trauma, mental health challenges, legal involvement, family disruption, housing instability, employment concerns, and other barriers to recovery.

You also value collaboration and understand that the strongest outcomes occur when clinical, medical, peer, and community supports work together.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Human Services, or another qualifying behavioral health discipline
  • Current Indiana behavioral health license or eligibility for an applicable Indiana license (CADAC)
  • LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, LSW, LMHCA, LCAC, or other qualifying Indiana credential preferred, as applicable to the position
  • Experience providing behavioral health counseling, psychotherapy, or other therapeutic services
  • Substance use disorder treatment experience strongly preferred
  • Experience facilitating therapeutic or psychoeducational groups preferred
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, relapse prevention, co-occurring mental health conditions, and recovery-oriented care
  • Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Must successfully complete required background checks, credentialing, training, and other pre-employment requirements

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Primarily outpatient clinical environment
  • Regular interaction with patients, families, clinical staff, and community partners
  • Ability to facilitate individual and group counseling sessions
  • Regular computer and electronic health record use
  • Prolonged sitting may be required
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation

Ready to Make a Difference?

Outpatient treatment plays a critical role in helping people build recovery while remaining connected to their families, careers, and communities.

At TASC, you will have the opportunity to walk alongside individuals as they develop the skills, confidence, and support systems necessary to create lasting change.

If you are a clinician who believes in recovery and wants your work to make a meaningful difference, we would love to meet you.
