Position Summary: The Barista is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the coffee shop.


Responsibilities:


Primary:

Daily Operations and Customer Experience – 80%

  • Assist with daily coffee shop operations to ensure a welcoming, efficient, and high-quality experience for students, staff, and guests.
  • Model excellent customer service and maintain consistent standards for product quality, cleanliness, food safety, and cash handling.
  • Serve as a visible, positive presence that contributes to a joyful and community-centered environment.

Grab and Go Food Prep – 20%

  • Assist with the preparation of grab and go food for the coffee shop.
  • Serve grab and go food from the coffee shop.
  • Ensure food storage spaces in the coffee shop are kept clean and complaint with any food safety regulations.

  • Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use point-of-sale (POS) systems and manage ordering or inventory platforms (e.g., Primero Edge or similar systems).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a heart for mentoring and serving others.
  • Working knowledge of common equipment used in a commercial coffee shop.
  • Ability to learn new systems, processes and equipment quickly.

Travel: This position requires some local travel.


Working Conditions: This job operates in a kitchen environment and will be commonly required to use routine equipment found in commercial kitchens and coffee shops and will periodically use standard office equipment such computers, photocopiers, and smartphones. This position requires the individual to be on their feet a majority of the day and must be able to lift 25+ pounds commonly. The work environment also involves working in a K-12 Private Christian School and Evangelical Church environment and all employees are expected to have a demonstrated and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.


Working Hours: Typically, employees are expected to work during normal hours and days of business, between Monday and Friday. Specific expectations for each position will be communicated by the supervisor of this position. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required. This position works 20 hours per week and 10 months of the year.
