Job Title: CNC Programmer

Job Description

This role focuses on programming a variety of CNC manufacturing equipment, including 3-axis and 5-axis machines, CNC lathes, and routers, to form or shape parts from raw materials according to precise engineering specifications and blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Program 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines, CNC lathes, and routers to manufacture parts from raw materials according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Use CAD/CAM programming systems to convert engineering drawings and change orders into accurate machine G-code programs.
  • Implement changes to existing machine programs and enter new specifications, ensuring all programs reflect the current revision level.
  • Program future jobs while machines are operating to maximize machine utilization and production efficiency.
  • Complete all required documentation and follow-up activities in a timely, organized, and accurate manner.
  • Inspect and evaluate production parts to ensure they meet blueprint and GD&T specifications and quality standards.
  • Design, build, and repair basic mechanical and specialty equipment, jigs, and fixtures as needed to support production.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on assigned departmental equipment and machinery, and carry out corrective maintenance as required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications to guide programming and machining operations.
  • Communicate effectively with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues and optimize machining processes.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 10 years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience using CATIA for CNC programming.
  • Minimum 5 years of CAD/CAM programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency in CNC programming for 3-axis and 5-axis machines, lathes, mills, and routers.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and its application to machining and inspection.
  • Hands-on machining experience with lathes and mills.
  • Experience working with aircraft-related parts or in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in programming, documentation, and inspection.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, basic repair, and maintenance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience using CAD/CAM systems to generate and modify CNC programs from engineering data.
  • Experience in designing and building jigs, fixtures, and basic mechanical equipment to support production.
  • Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC and related manufacturing equipment.
  • Comfort working with change orders and maintaining accurate revision control of programs and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in production and engineering.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple jobs, documentation, and program updates concurrently.

Work Environment

This position is based in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility in Wichita, KS, working directly on and around CNC machines, lathes, mills, and related equipment. You need to be open to working either 1st shift (Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.) or 2nd shift (Monday-Friday, 3:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m.). The environment is hands-on and production-focused, with active machinery and typical shop-floor conditions. The dress code requires pants or shorts and a shirt; tank tops and cut-offs are not permitted.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $67.00/hr.
