Christ's Church (Broken Bow, NE) Pastor
THE BIG PICTURE
Christ's Church (https://www.christschurchatlillian.com) is seeking a pastor to shepherd a small but vibrant nondenominational, evangelical church in rural central Nebraska established in 1907. The minister shall be a spiritual leader, demonstrating servant-leadership. The minister shall strive to see people saved and equip all believers, as followers of Christ, to love and serve in a Christ-like lifestyle.
Requirements
Responsibilities
1) Preach the Gospel of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
2) Feed the church, preaching and teaching God's word with accuracy, clarity, conviction and
relevance.
3) Lead the church - The Minister will:
- Conduct weekly Sunday worship and other services as determined by the Board.
- Help provide spiritual leadership and direction for the congregation.
- Help provide spiritual leadership for the elders and Board.
- Help implement and accomplish church's mission and vision in keeping with the Statement
of Faith.
- Have a passion and plan to reach the lost and encourage that passion among members of
the congregation.
- Actively equip and mentor members of the congregation to foster leadership development
and empowerment.
- Encourage people to love and worship God and to love each other and our neighbors.
- Encourage people to seek to know their spiritual gifts and use them to serve God.
- Encourage people to maintain personal disciplines including bible study, prayer and fasting.
- Encourage people in corporate gathering and accountability including small groups
- Help to assimilate new people into the church
- Encourage stewardship and missions support through Christian action and financial support.
4) Demonstrate Care for the church - The Minister will:
- Show love as Christ loves the church
- Provide biblical counsel to those in need, spiritually.
- Visit people of the church.
- Ensure that sick, shut-in or bereaved persons are ministered to, either personally or by
others in the church.
- Help ensure that weddings (including premarital counseling), funerals, baptisms, baby
dedications and such services are performed in accordance with church policy.
- Encourage or direct ministries for church youth.
- Establish regular office hours, understanding that special circumstances may warrant
flexibility.
Accountability of the Minister
The minister shall be ordained and/or licensed or be willing to become so. The minister shall be responsible to the congregation and held accountable by the Board. Ninety days following initial employment, the Board shall conduct an evaluation of the minister's performance and the minister also shall evaluate the Board. Thereafter, mutual evaluations shall be performed annually or as otherwise determined by the Board. The purpose of evaluations shall be to better direct and encourage the minister, and to aid the Board in improving its oversight role.
Benefits
Salary - $45,000 to $55,000 annually, plus use of parsonage (utilities & internet not included).
Insurance not provided, but deductions are negotiable.
Work mileage expense reimbursed at current IRS rate. Record of mileage required and subject to review.
Compensation to be reviewed annually.
Days off to be determined (five-day work week expected).
Holidays - eight days to be taken on or near calendar dates of major holidays.
Vacation - two weeks per year. In first year, may be taken after first six months.
