Job description

Position Summary

PBACO is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in public accounting, hold an active CPA license, and demonstrate the ability to lead financial reporting, ensure compliance, and drive process improvements in a remote work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage all general ledger activity, including month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting functions
  • Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and regulatory reports
  • Reconcile complex accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices across the accounting function
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support business decision-making
  • Manage cash flow reporting and assist with treasury functions as needed
Required Qualifications
  • Active CPA license (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Public accounting experience (required)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite is strongly preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage priorities in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or MBA
  • Experience in the insurance, healthcare, or professional services industry
  • Experience with multi-entity or consolidated financial reporting
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Familiarity with Florida state tax and regulatory requirements
  • Located within the state of Florida
