Job description

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The endoscopy tech will be working directly with the endoscopy team.  The Endo-Minor tech assists with endoscopy and other minor surgery procedures.  The endoscopy tech will be responsible for preparing the endoscopy suite according to age specific, medical condition and physician preference. The candidate will also follow hospital policies and procedures and will demonstrate competency for all aspects of endoscopy reprocessing, aseptic technique, and maintaining equipment.  Maintains scope processing area according to AAMI standards. 


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.      Required: High School diploma, GED or Higher Education. Current BLS Certification

2.      Graduate from Surgical Technologist program or 1 year performing surgical technologist duties or certificate of completion from a military program preferred.

3.      Certified: Nursing assistant, Surgical tech or GI Technical Specialist (GTS) preferred.

4.      Must have solid working knowledge of medical terminology required.

5.      Computer skills:  Various applications related to Instrument management (Provation, OneSource)

6.      Must have working knowledge and clinical experience with wide variety of endoscopes

7.      Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

1. High School diplom, GED or Higher Education required.

2. Must have and maintain current BLS certification, according to unit specific needs.  Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA or ARC, for Healthcare Provider’s Program.

3.  Certification as Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) preferred.

4. Will successfully pass all hospital competencies for department. Certification as Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) through International Association of Healthcare Central Sterile Materiel Management (IAHCSMM);  required by the end of 2024 for current staff.

5. Technical Skills: Due to the highly technical nature, especially related to interpretation of manufacturer’s Instructions For Use (IFU), ALL staff must be proficient in spoken and written English.
