Job description

  • Provide tier 2 and tier 3 satellite and network operations support
  • Operate, perform quality control, and oversee Ku/Ka Spread Spectrum (KuSS) networks and associated equipment
  • Complete Master Station Log (MSL) entries and Remedy trouble ticket entries
  • Monitor, control, and configure a global satellite communications network, including forward deployed satellite earth terminals and embedded network communications equipment
  • Provide daily operational support for ViaSat Arclight hubs and remote systems supporting global TDMA/IP networks
  • Work shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Monitor network and space segment performance and provide customer tier 2 and tier 3 support
  • Resolve broadband IP communication issues via satellite transmission and support complex systems installations and startup at customer sites
  • Monitor ViaSat Arclight equipment configurations and network performance in real time; report conditions and anomalies to the designated team lead
  • Prepare network utilization, performance, and activity reports
  • Open and track trouble tickets for network or terminal issues
  • Provide quality control and oversight of configuration files, MSL entries, and Remedy trouble ticket entries
  • Isolate and correct network faults using software toolsets
  • Troubleshoot network anomalies, satellite outages, and deployable KuSS terminal satellite-related issues
  • Proactively monitor AISR-T networks using measured-versus-planned performance, performance trends, and KuSS terminal performance characteristics
  • Manage service restoration activities and update the Remedy trouble-ticketing system
  • Provide status reports to customers and management
  • Support testing and implementation of new software releases for deployed network equipment
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to installations, software and hardware upgrades, configuration changes, equipment integration, or testing
  • Maintain timely and accurate helpdesk records
  • Assist with detailed project planning for larger projects and potentially manage smaller projects
  • Review proposals and prepare project overviews comparing alternatives
  • Provide technical input to information technology project planning
  • Maintain job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, personal networks, and professional organizations
  • Reassess business requirements and suggest solutions addressing changing business needs
  • Preserve the confidentiality of organizational information
Requirements
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science or related field with five years progressively complex network systems engineering experience, or equivalent combination of education/training and experience
  • Competent technical expertise and application domain knowledge
  • Active U.S. Government Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret level security clearance with SCI eligibility determination
  • Experience managing and supporting KuSS Arclight ground hub and air component solutions
  • Experience with TCP/IP and general networking concepts
  • Experience with SATCOM/RF concepts
  • IP Routing

  • Microsoft Office suite
  • Trouble ticket tracking
  • One or more DoD 8570 IAT-II certifications (Security+, etc.)
  • Technical certification such as CCNA, CCDA, CCNP or CCDP
