Pirc-Tobin Construction in Alburnett, Iowa is seeking individuals to join our project crew. This position is for an individual who is self-motivated, positive, and team and safety-oriented who can demonstrate the ability to safely excavate around underground utilities using an excavator, following utility locates, spotter guidance, and company safety procedures. When not operating equipment, individuals must be willing to perform physical labor work wherever needed.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate the ability to safely excavate around underground utilities using an excavator, following utility locates, spotter guidance, and company safety procedures.
  • Have the ability to perform jobs such as main line pipe installs, removals, fine grading, trench box install/removal, and other associated tasks.
  • Must understand how to maneuver around obstacles and buried utilities, without direct supervision from management.
  • Understands blueprint reading.
  • Must be able to fuel the machine and lube pivot joints daily.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the equipment.
  • Learn and follow safety standards.
  • Work a full-time schedule with overtime during construction season as follows:

-- Seasonal work, March - December -- Monday - Friday, 7:00-5:30 with possible weekend work -- 40-55 hours/week, depending on weather--

Education, Experience & Training Requirements:

  • 2500 hours minimum of safe and proficient operation of excavators and other heavy equipment
  • Must hold valid insurable driver's license - Class C minimum and a clear driving record
