Homewood Suites Washington DC Capitol-Navy Yard is seeking a friendly, service-oriented team member to support our restaurant breakfast operations.
Please note: This is a part-time position only and is intended for candidates who are specifically available to work every Saturday, Sunday, and holidays from 6:30 AM-10:30 AM. Full-time hours are not available for this role.
This position supports an efficient and welcoming dining experience by greeting guests, seating guests promptly, assisting with breakfast service, and creating a positive guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Greets arriving guests with a warm, professional, and welcoming demeanor upon entering the breakfast area.
- Verifies guest breakfast eligibility/tickets and provides seating guidance as needed.
- Escorts guests to available seating and accommodates special requests when possible to create a positive dining experience.
- Maintains a visible presence in the breakfast area during service by remaining attentive to guest needs and supporting overall breakfast operations.
- Communicates guest concerns, requests, and feedback to management to support service improvements and guest satisfaction.
- Assists with monitoring dining room cleanliness and ensuring tables remain clean, organized, and guest-ready throughout breakfast service.
- Supports breakfast breakdown and dining area reset following service.
- Assists kitchen staff with clearing tables, bussing, collecting dishes, and completing side work after breakfast hours.
- Assists with light cleaning duties including wiping tables, sweeping, vacuuming, and maintaining an attractive breakfast environment.
- Ensures proper dining area setup prior to breakfast opening, including table arrangement and overall presentation.
- Reports maintenance, cleanliness, or operational concerns to management in a timely manner.
- Maintains a professional appearance and consistently demonstrates a friendly, cheerful, and courteous attitude.
Qualifications
Education/Formal Training
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience
Previous experience of 3 months in customer service, hospitality, restaurant, food service, or guest-facing roles preferred. Experience creating a welcoming guest experience and supporting dining operations is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Strong customer service and guest engagement skills with the ability to communicate professionally and courteously.
- General knowledge of restaurant operations, food service practices, and dining room presentation standards.
- Ability to verify breakfast tickets/guest eligibility and follow established service procedures.
- Ability to remain organized, multitask, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with kitchen and hotel staff to support breakfast service and post-service cleanup.

- Must be able to lift and carry trays and bus tubs weighing up to 10lbs.
- Must be able to stand throughout entire shift and to lift arms above head to retrieve objects from shelves.
- Must have vision ability to read written communiques, computer screens and print-outs, see colors and to survey entire room in dimly lit conditions.
