Job Summary:
The Route Driver is responsible for delivering bakery products to established customer locations according to a scheduled route. This role involves ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods, maintaining excellent customer service, and managing the delivery vehicle. The Route Driver plays a crucial role in maintaining the bakery's reputation by delivering products fresh and on time.
Role & Responsibilities
  • Operate the delivery vehicle to transport bakery products to assigned locations following a predetermined route.

  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products, including handling and storing items properly to maintain quality.

  • Verify delivery details, including quantities and product types, to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Provide courteous and professional service to customers during deliveries, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with regular customers to ensure satisfaction and encourage repeat business.

  • Communicate any issues, such as delays or product shortages, to both the customer and bakery management promptly.

  • Conduct daily inspections of the delivery vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and cleanliness.

  • Keep the delivery vehicle organized and clean, both inside and out.

  • Follow all safety protocols and traffic laws while operating the vehicle to ensure safe delivery practices.

  • Maintain accurate delivery records, including delivery times, product quantities, and customer signatures or payments as required.

  • Report any delivery issues, vehicle problems, or customer feedback to the Distribution Manager or Supervisor.

  • Submit all necessary documentation and paperwork, such as delivery logs and receipts, in a timely manner.

  • Follow the established route and schedule, making adjustments as necessary to accommodate changes or delays.

  • Monitor and manage time effectively to ensure all deliveries are completed within the scheduled timeframe.

  • Monitor inventory levels on the delivery vehicle and report any discrepancies or shortages to the bakery's inventory management team.

  • Assist with loading and organizing products at the bakery before departure.

  • Provide support for special delivery requests or adjustments to the route as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Distribution Manager or bakery management.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience as a delivery driver, route driver, or in a similar role is preferred.

  • Familiarity with local routes and delivery locations is advantageous.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact positively with customers.

  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
