Job description

The role of a D272 Test Supervisor is vital to the success of the day to day operations in the Shipyard Test Organization. Being a Test Supervisor is a difficult and tasking job based on the volume of work, the technical knowledge required and the level of responsibility that goes along with keeping their tester directors safe in addition to testing and certifying a Nuclear Powered Submarine. Shipyard Test is a learning organization built on the nuclear watch-standing principles that have shaped our STO Pillars. One should feel proud to be selected to take on that enormous responsibility.

Leadership Skillset:

  • Provide daily mentorship to new and experienced Test Directors
  • Strict adherence to all policies, test procedures, CONOPs initiatives, and Test Manager Directives
  • Achieve and maintain qualifications: Work Controls, 6010, S&EP, NNSTE
  • Complete ownership over Steam & Electric Plant and Hull, Mechanical & Electrical Test Forms through daily review of data, partial closeout to Key Event, and final completion for certification
  • Effective time management skills to include attendance at Start-up meeting, shift to shift turnover, rotation of weekend coverage when required for test execution
  • Drive employee engagement through valuing team members ideas, contributions and dedication to delivering our product to the US NAVY
  • Evaluate the performance of personnel and make recommendations for advancement, training or discipline.

Planning, Preparation and Execution duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Plan Operations Worklist (OWL) 24 hours prior to execution
  • Partner with Assistant Chief Test Eng and Chief Test Engineer for testing to be planned within a 3 week window
  • Partner with Ships Force, Nuclear Test, and Trade General Foreman for interdepartmental support in testing
  • Complete daily review of liabilities and resolve items along the critical and controlling path
  • Review & authorize necessary tagouts to perform testing and RIPOUT work
  • Ensure test direct training is up to date to meet all testing requirements
  • Complete all necessary briefings to Train / Brief / Certify your team to execute on the deckplate
  • Provide direct supervision of test technicians’ activities on the ship
  • Ensure all Electric Boat policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Maintain formal detailed logs on all work completed and test interruptions encountered
  • Review Ripout retest and/or Test Form data before signing work complete
  • Review teams labor charging for accuracy prior to end of shift
  • Progress work orders in OWL with ACTE/CTE concurrence

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 4+ years of relevant shipyard test experience or equivalent US Navy operational experience
  • Previous electrical/supervisory experience will be accepted in lieu of shipyard experience

Preferred:

  • Post High School education 
  • Electrical Engineering Bachelor's Degree
  • 6+ years US NAVY

  • Demontrated ability to coordinate complex projects in a team environment
